Recently, Alibaba launched the static open source site building tool Docsite on Github, which is a set of official website, documents, blogs and communities as one of the static open source site solution, with a simple and easy to use, do not give up the characteristics of getting started. It also supports React and static rendering, PC and mobile, supports Internationalization of Chinese and English, SEO, Markdown documents, global site search, site style customization, page customization and other functions. With the help of Docsite, it can greatly improve the efficiency of front-end engineers to build static open source sites.
In recent years, with the rise of Github Pages static hosting service, static site generator because of its static generation of low requirements for hosting environment, simple maintenance, with version control, flexible and changeable advantages, obtained great development, emerged a number of excellent static site solutions.
Alibaba front-end development engineer Yin zhi said: “although there are a lot of static generator site, but in the process of our previous research found that this kind of solution, such as Gatsby, docsify, or write directly on the wiki, cannot fully meet the needs of us, so we set out to build a static site building tools. It was called Docsite because it was mainly used for static site construction and supported Markdown documents.”
At present, Alibaba has opened more than 400 open source projects. If each project has an official website, it will cost a lot of front-end development resources. At this point, Docsite will greatly improve the online efficiency of the website, and at the same time facilitate the unification and standardization of the user experience of the website.
Alibaba Dubbo, Nacos and other open source projects are already using Docsite.
