On June 6, 2014, Beijing Spruce World Information Technology Co., Ltd. was established. From a small three-bedroom team in Beiyuan, Beijing, to a unicorn that now covers about 220 cities across China and serves more than 2.79 million merchants, Meicai has become one of the most concerned outstanding service providers of catering supply chain in China.
Meicai has been committed to changing the backward Chinese agricultural market with avant-garde ideas and advanced science and technology, focusing on providing nearly ten million restaurants in China with a full range of food ingredients procurement services, “buy vegetables sell vegetables serve beautiful dishes”. In the eyes of a technician who has been in contact with American food for more than 4 years, American food has two characteristics:

We are a large front end team, with a total of 70+ people (our goal is to exceed 100 people in the near future). There are experienced drivers who like to study in-depth problems, and some Geek friends who like to do something beyond their boundaries. Their common characteristics are enthusiasm, intelligence and sincerity. The ideal of this front end department is to create first-class terminal products and teams in the industry.
The spruce style of front-end people is simple, reliable, and deeply rooted in people’s hearts: customer first, embrace change, responsibility, thrift, integrity, love, and sustainable growth.
2. How does it work
model
Front-end technologies emerge in an endless stream, but “all changes are the same”. The front-end serves the end user interface and accepts the interaction between users and remote data. We are the people closest to our users, so we need to put ourselves in others’ shoes and understand customer experience to the utmost.
In most cases, there is some distance between the front end and the business core. The front-end product is the terminal, but it can also be said to be the end of the business. It is not easy to control the business trend. We require our partners to do the “product front end” :
- Understand and mine business needs from the perspective of users and products, and many front-end partners even act as PM in the project;
- Treat products as their own children, self-driven to find things to do, and constantly optimize

Many front-end positions have strong “support” attributes, and our requirements for the front-end team are “human efficiency first, unity and cooperation, and frontal attack”.
- Human efficiency: the consciousness of service not only decides the attitude of doing things, but also decides the way of doing things. It encourages us to create a more efficient system, cherish every human resource, give full play to the lazy spirit of programmers, and never write a line of code if it can be completed with tools.
- Unity: is the foundation, the basic principle of communication with any fraternal team;
- Frontal gun: is the attitude, do not avoid, do not hide, face the front, adhere to the principle
Serve other cooperative teams with the same attitude as serving customers. In the role of pushing hand and being pulled, the front end should actively assume the former.
Who are our TL’s?
I (PDD) am temporarily the TL of this team, and my focus is very simple: the implementation of important technical solutions, the formation of high-quality, modern, strong fighting team. Externally, it is to recruit better people, especially better people than me; Internally, do a good job of service.
The transience of the front-end TL: No company’s front-end team itself is constant. Because the front-end architecture of Meicai is in the transformation stage of 3.0, when we complete the transformation of 3.0 and the company reaches the development goal of 100 billion yuan, the front-end team will become more mature and have more combinations. Because of this, in the winter of capital, the business and team of American food will grow against the trend, and there will be more opportunities for rise.

Three, what did we do
In the middle of last year, the technical development of our front-end team entered the 3.0 stage, and by the end of the first 1/3 of The Front-end 3.0 of Mei CAI:
- We have gradually unified the technology stack of Web. At present, 95% of web systems are developed by Vue and 5% by React. We are gradually unifying the continuous integration specification and developing the development scaffolding and component library of each platform by ourselves.
- We have unified the technology stack of mixed applications. At present, 80% of the company’s apps are developed with React Native, and most of them have 100% RN business coverage. Of course, some apps are trying to Flutter.
- A development line based on online monitoring feedback has been established.
- We have our own team’s best practices in Web, H5, RN, applets, etc
What else should we do
What we’re actually doing, in terms of results, is:
- Participate in the transformation of China’s agricultural and catering supply chains.
- Externally, we provide services for users of Meicai Mall and Meijia Youxiang.
- Internally, we provide tools (ammunition) for the company’s sales, operations, data, product and other organizations.
Following the takeoff of the American Food business, we had to upgrade our entire front-end technology platform this year. Here’s what we’re going to do:
- Platformization: multi-terminal (iOS, And, H5, small program, RN, PC, Node) platformization is completed, which reduces the execution cost of any form of new product development And test, And promotes business. The output of platformization is not just some basic libraries or component libraries.
- Monitoring system: build a comprehensive monitoring system, performance monitoring, automation buried point comprehensive coverage, do their own products the real master;
- Data-driven: form flexible data-driven APP development and product decision making, build ABTest service, all platforms support gray scale and ABTest;
- API development: establish a complete NODE development, operation and maintenance knowledge chain and operation and maintenance system to realize all business functions of part of the business API layer and form a complete terminal capability;

- Mei CAI Mall: the core of Mei CAI ToB business
- Meijia Youxiang: The complete business of MEicai ToC
- CRM: Sales task model, product operation, CRM management platform
- ERP: The complete solution for the American restaurant scene
- Supply chain: supply chain, merchant related system solutions
- Operation & Data platform: mall operation, marketing platform, big data center, merchant intelligence and other businesses
- Efficiency & Tool platform: collaborative efficiency, basic services
- Terminal sharing platform (virtual group) : horizontally promote the implementation of platformization and other technologies
