I got the Apple Schoalrship and got a free ticket to attend the WWDC.

First of all thank you@ tula dingIt helped me get in touch with the organizations and my friends who started from Shanghai and Beijing to participate in WWDC. (This is my first time to go abroad, so I should be quite worried if I don’t have someone to go with.) Because we got to know them, we traveled together, which enabled me to appreciate the beautiful scenery of California and participate in WWDC more fully.

Before the article

I arrived at Pudong Airport early in the morning on June 9th, and many people were waiting in line. I met Chun and Jason. They also left the front line and stood in line with me and accompanied me. The 12-hour flight was quite painful. I arrived in San Francisco at about 8 am local time. After waiting for two big friends from Beijing, I took Bart to the center of San Francisco. Immediately after the check – in hotel called Uber went to fisherman’s wharf, after eating the sea crab dinner, they hired bikes from the fisherman’s wharf, all the way along the coast (are bike paths) ride, across the golden gate bridge, the other side of the boat back, took a total of 4, 5 hours or so, the city of San Francisco has a preliminary understanding of: Beauty, slow life, sun, sand, sports. The next day, six of us rented a car and started our self-driving trip on Highway 1 in the West Coast of the United States. Along the way, there was wilderness on one side and the sea on the other. The scenery was so beautiful that we wanted to stop every 100 meters. We drove to Monterrey, visited 17 Miles, Carmel Beach, enjoyed the sand, the sun, the ocean, and ate at a high bar Mexican restaurant in the secluded town of Carmel. I stayed in a seaside resort at night. When I got up at 5 o ‘clock in the morning, I went to the seaside. There were already several people running, walking dogs and surfing on the beach. People who walk up to me say, Good morning! ‘. This is life! After a short rest on the beach, we drove to Silicon Valley, the dream of engineers, and made a pilgrimage to Apple headquarters in Cupertino. Six people took pictures like possessed and 1 Infinite Loop. Then they bought and filled up their faith in the Apple Company Store, which included various souvenir T-shirts, cups, pens, Book. Then I visited Stanford University and experienced the universities of others. It was so beautiful that every place could be a scenic spot. Due to the hurry of time, did not visit Google, unfortunately.

Day0

In fact, WWDC of our Scholar started on June 12, and Apple arranged Scholarship Orientation for our Scholar. In the morning, I met with scholars from University of Science and Technology Beijing and Shandong University. Then I went to Moscone West and the Mission Bay Conference Center where we held our Scholarship Orientation. Chatted and took photos with Turkish and Brazilian scholars (there are a lot of them in Brazil).

Later, we scholar came to the venue by bus and stood in line for check-in. We took Badge and WWDC16 coat. When standing in line, WE met scholar from Brazil, who was the CEO of a company and developed many apps and games alone. Listen to session, join lab and coding together.

After check-in, I went to a lobby for lunch. I met Udacity’s iOS Course Manager and chatted with him, but unfortunately I didn’t have time to visit Udacity’s SF office.

After lunch, there was a Welcome Session, which was fine, just talking about what makes a good app, We talked about the 8 points Inviting, Intuitive, Engaging, Enabling, Innovative, State of the Art, Accessible. I remember I talked about this in the Apple Design Award Session before. Then there are some apple employees sharing.

After the Session was over, all our scholars went to the lawn to take a group photo. Then Tim Cook came and the scene became like this. I got Cook’s signature and took a group photo in the crowd.

After that, Apple Engineers communicated with us. Before leaving, each Scholar took Apple TV, which was very happy. That’s the end of day0. At the end of the day, I found That English is so important. I really envy those native Speakers of English.

Day1

This year’s keynote will be held at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, rather than Moscone West, which is used in previous years. The venue in Moscone West is not big enough to accommodate all WWDC developers. I moved the first day to a bigger venue. Carl MIKA and I were standing in line at Bill Graham’s at 2:00 a.m., and there weren’t many people there

Found the front of the black brother watching crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon……

I arrived at 9 o ‘clock, stood in front of a Reversed seat for the media, and got an early look at the Siri icon on the Mac. This Keynote is not a surprise to me, it feels like a regular update, but in the afternoon Session: Platforms State of the Union, I gave some surprises, added some XCode features, improved some shortcomings, the development tools are more pleasant than the system.

Day2-Day5:

I basically listened to the session in the morning of Day2 and several sessions in the next few days, but I didn’t learn much, probably because I haven’t done app development for a long time. I can also watch the session back, I just hang out in the Lab on the first floor, my game was also shown to Apple Engineers over and over again, got some suggestions and solved some problems for me. In fact, I was afraid of communicating with them at first, but after a try, I found it was not too difficult, and Apple Engineers did not have much shelf, and then I was not afraid. At the same time, I also tried the ReplayKit live broadcast function, a few lines of code is enough, which is very simple (my game can use it), but there is no app to receive live broadcast, so I didn’t see the final effect. However, WHEN I went to the Lab of ReplayKit, the engineer told me that there were only two ReplayKit team members, I was really impressed. It also explained to me how ReplayKit live functions. I think ReplayKit’s live streaming will. At the same time, I also went to Swift Open Hour, XCode Open Hour, TVOS Lab, SpriteKit Lab and so on. Actually, I hadn’t written much iOS code for a month before that. I was busy with school projects and had no specific problems. Listen carefully if you have any questions. Having said that, I stayed in the rest area, lying on the sofa and watching the session live broadcast, which was much more comfortable than sitting in the venue. At the same time, I met the Vapor team from Brazil in Swift for the World Lab and asked some contents that I need to learn to be the Swift Server Side Open Source. Because I had this idea and wanted to make contributions to the development of Swift, It’s a long way from where I’m at right now, but you take your time and you’ll get results. Also can’t wait to do a swift project from APP to server.

The most worthwhile Lab and the most popular Lab is the User Interface Design Lab, where you can have one-on-one communication with Apple engineers, but you need to make an appointment. The appointment is made at 7am every morning. On Day2, I opened the link at 7am on time, and I thought about the questions to be asked for one minute (I learned later that this could not be written, Does not affect the appointment), Lab is all booked. I made a successful appointment for Day3. As soon as I saw the designer, I felt different and had a great sense of art. After 30 minutes of communication, I gained a lot. But 30 minutes is not enough, there are still two pages left, and there are no ways to learn design.

In addition, in App for the World, many developers from Tencent, Baidu, netease and DJI came together, as well as Apple employees from greater China. The Chinese market is getting a lot of attention, and developers from other countries are also paying attention to the Chinese market and recommending their apps to us. Other Chinese developers and I are on the official WWDC app

conclusion

Originally, the purpose of attending this WWDC was not to learn any technology, but to feel the atmosphere of WWDC, to know more people, to listen to the advice of predecessors, to express more and communicate more. This meeting also met my expectations. I was generally satisfied with it. I felt sorry for my poor English and no further communication. Some suggestions are as follows: go to lab and come back for sessions. Since the final exam is coming soon, I have no time to try out new features. After the exam, I will make up the session and practice it. I can’t wait to add some new features to my game RoDot. Basically took a photo with all the Apple executives at the conference (^__^)

feeling

What impressed me most during this WWDC trip was not Keynote, Session, Lab or Apple Engineers, but Apple’s humanistic feelings, tolerance and respect for everyone. Apple’s flag flew at half-staff before the city government’s flag flew at half-staff after a deadly shooting at a gay bar in Orlando, Florida, the day before the conference. Tributes were paid to the victims of the incident. In addition, Apple attached great importance to User accessibility. In the Apple Design Award, a blind person demonstrated an award-winning DJ app. When communicating with other scholars, it was found that when evaluating the app of the Scholar, User Accessibility is also an important plus. When I attended a Session, there was a deaf mute in the audience. Someone was listening to the Session with their back to the stage and was signing in front of him. All the lights were off except the one over the head of the signer. Apple is Open, Swift is Open, and this year there are two sessions :Going Server-side with Swift Open Source, Neural Networks and Accelerate, I’m glad Apple is promoting Swift on other platforms.

Second Half plan

I would like to have a good internship in a company during the summer vacation, and set up a club in the first semester of my junior year to influence others with my experience. I also want to set up my own company just like that handsome Brazilian boy.
