We’re about a third of the way through 2021. What great books did you read this year, and what did you learn?

On April 23, the annual World Book Day, iQiyi technology product team planned a book recommendation activity to recommend books that benefit them from different perspectives together with the big names from iQiyi Technology Product Committee.

There are books on technical products, but there are also books that make you think about technological life, business and the future of technology. We have compiled this list of books and welcome all readers to collect them and enjoy them together.

01 List of technical books

Strong business skills are essential to becoming a good engineer or product manager. As the beginning of the book list, we present five classic technical product books to you, whether it is the newcomer to the Internet and computer, or the pursuit of advanced technology players, BELIEVE that they can get a good book to improve their own.

Code Book

Including software quality, programming ideas and other aspects, no matter experienced programmers, technical leaders, growing programmers or students who are still learning computer programming, they can obtain new knowledge and improve the efficiency and ability of programming.

Deep Learning

By Ian Goodfellow, Yoshua Bengio and Aaron Courville

Recommended reasons:

Also known as “flower book”, it is a foundational classic textbook in the field of deep learning. The book consists of three parts: Part 1 introduces basic mathematical tools and the concepts of machine learning, which are preparatory knowledge for deep learning; The second part systematically and deeply explains the mature deep learning methods and technologies. Part 3 discusses some forward-looking directions and ideas, which are recognized as the focus of deep learning research in the future. Dubbed the Bible of Deep learning, the book is suitable for a variety of readers, including college students in related majors and engineers with no background in machine learning or statistics who want to quickly supplement their deep learning knowledge for use in real products or platforms.

Introduction to Machine Learning Testing and Practice

Authors: AI Hui, Rong 360 AI testing team

Recommended reasons:

It is recommended for students who develop intelligent testing affairs, who can systematically learn from scratch: Python-based data analysis foundation, machine learning foundation, big data tools, feature engineering and other knowledge, and give examples of some excellent practices in the industry. This book is more suitable for intelligent testing interest or have some practical experience of the students, belongs to the entry level, but more systematic, you can have some enlightenment.

The Google Way of Software Testing

By JamesWhittaker, JasonArbon, JeffCarollo

Recommended reasons:

Recommended for all development, test, test management personnel, no limit of working years, can be very systematic understanding of the nature of testing.

This book describes in detail the design elements of the test architecture, technical testing personnel should have technical skills, so that the test work not only stay in manual testing, testing stage, but in the way of automatic testing to cover the whole life cycle of the project, is a classic work of the test industry.

The Way of Interaction Design

By Cooper

Why you should check it out: This book explains how to create better, loyal software products and software-based high-tech products. Through a series of authentic examples, the author points out that the “difficult to use” problem is caused by the high level of “cognitive friction” existing in products, and the root cause of this problem is the lack of an early stage of “interaction design” for the benefit of users in the current software development process. It proves that only by changing the existing concept can interaction design be effectively introduced into the development process and the product design lead to success.

02 List of non-technical books

In addition to strong technical skills, being a top engineer/product manager requires strong business and technical analytical skills. Technology that does not understand the business will not be good technology is a very real and important statement in terms of business development and business fundamentals. So, in addition to technical books, these are great books that open your eyes, dissect your business, and think about the future of technology in different dimensions.

Biography of Shannon

By Jimmy Soni and Rob Goodman

Claude Shannon is the discovery of the nature of information, the invention of “information theory”, in almost all people think that “communication is inevitably accompanied by noise”, he proved that the channel noise can be overcome, thus opened the information age, the impact of today; He was also the first to link logic operation with relay switch, laying the foundation of digital circuit design; He pointed out that people are thinking machines and built the world’s first chess-playing robot. 1967 – Awarded the National Medal of Science for “six years of outstanding contributions to the mathematics of Communication and information Processing.”

Shannon spent her life trying to satisfy her curiosity, making games and solving any problem that came her way, especially a puzzle. There is no doubt that Shannon is a visionary genius; But he also points out that great ideas are born not just of curiosity but of dissatisfaction with the status quo; But not whiny dissatisfaction, but “constructive dissatisfaction,” which is “a little irritation because things don’t feel right,” and a willingness to find solutions to problems, and a sense of joy in finding solutions. In order to achieve “breakthrough and innovation”, the “constructive dissatisfaction” and the “joy of solving problems” mentioned by Shannon can be possessed and achieved by ordinary people.

Platform Revolution: Business Models That Are Changing the World

By Geoffray G. Parker, Marshall W. Van Elstein and Sankitt Paul Chudali

Why you should recommend it: This book takes a good look at the current platforms of Internet companies, presents their characteristics and operating models, and summarizes the business models and patterns of different platforms: what they are, how they work, and the impact they have on the industry. For a super App with the size of IQiyi, it is of great value to understand the operation mode of the Internet platform. There are similarities and differences, and reasonable application of energy can be used to provide thinking and theoretical support for key work in different stages of the business.

The Age of Intelligence

Author: Wu Jun

We are entering a “super intelligence era”. Just like the industrial revolution, what is happening is an earth-shaking change, even deeper and broader. If we cannot adapt to this change through the transformation of thinking, we cannot seize the commanding heights of the super intelligence era. The author of the book introduces the ins and out of hot technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, IoT, 5G and blockchain in easy-to-understand language. It focuses on inspiring innovative thinking, and also talks about how big data and machine intelligence will change the landscape of various industries in the future, which will help inspire us to rethink our businesses and reshape our products.

The Impact

By Robert Cialdini

Why you should recommend it: This book, too, has a lot of years.

I read it for the first time more than ten years ago. It is a wonderful book, and may be useful to different people with different purposes; Of course, you can get more out of reading without expecting it.

There are some classic cases cited by many books, about human behavior and psychology, the analysis is penetrating, suitable for product and design students to ponder over.

There are also many values and codes of conduct about how to be a qualified team leader, which are worth learning.

If you’re a new parent, you might also see some lessons in how to set the right standard for your kids.

The book’s case is classic, but may no longer be popular; The truth seems easy to understand, even old. But look around, really can do how difficult.

Unity of knowledge and action, if you get, is willing to share with you.

Not enough? In the last part of the Easter egg, we attach a “strengthened edition” final book list, but also not hurry to collect a wave, no longer afraid of book shortage.
