To join the SAP

I heard about SAP from two of my classmates in UESTC who are working as interns in SAP Chengdu. They said that working at SAP would give me the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues around the world, access to advanced technology, and participate in the company’s training and development programs.

Therefore, I had the idea of applying for an internship at SAP. After several rounds of interviews, I became an assistant application developer. After graduation in 2007, I started working in SAP China Research Institute, from an intern to a full-time employee (FTE). I’ve been working at SAP ever since. Over the course of my career,

I once worked in several product development teams of SAP Chengdu Research Institute, and participated in the development of SAP Business ByDesign, SAP CRM, SAP Cloud for Customer, SAP S/4HANA and other products. As an experienced developer, I have mastered the skills necessary to accomplish these development tasks, Professional programming skills such as ABAP, Java and JavaScript related to SAP CRM, SAP Cloud for Customer, SAP S/4HANA and SAP Commerce. Currently, I am working as a development expert in the digital Innovation Space team of SAP Chengdu Research Institute, mainly responsible for defining, designing and developing prototypes and innovation achievements.

Work and Passion

My work fuels my passion and continues to motivate me. I am honored to be nominated as SAP China Technology Ambassador by SAP Community Committee. As a technology ambassador, I’m constantly looking for ways to use our technology to bring it to the local ecosystem. I never have to think about what to blog about because my day job always inspires me to blog, especially when I move into a new field of work.

I’m often asked how you manage to keep blogging while so busy. If you have passion, you can do something. My home is 20 kilometers away from my company, and it takes a total of 2 hours to commute by subway every day. I use these two hours of uninterrupted time to blog quietly and productively. Then use SAP technology to easily synchronize and publish to the community.

So far, I have written nearly 620 blog posts for SAP Community. In addition to writing a blog on SAP Community, I also started writing articles on my wechat official account and received positive feedback from readers. After discussing this with my manager, I encouraged my colleagues to start using this channel as well. I’m proud to be able to share with you as a team. In 2018, we published over 87 articles, using wechat to promote our technology to various ecosystems. For my efforts and impact on the community, I was awarded the SAPCommunity citizenship award in 2017.

The enterprise culture

SAP’s corporate culture advocates work-life balance, and many of my colleagues are not only experts in traditional SAP fields, but also pursue hobbies such as sports and art. For me, I like nunchucks. Have you ever heard of nunchucks or chainsticks? There are two purposes for practicing nunchucks: martial arts training and performance demonstration. I belong to the latter group.

What, you may ask, do nunchucks have to do with a self-proclaimed geek like me? In fact, the process of mastering both is the same. You need to slowly build your confidence, break out of your comfort zone and embrace the new world. By teaching myself nunchucks, I gained confidence and I believe I will be more calm when facing unknown challenges.

At SAP, we strive to build best-in-class software that enables our customers to achieve operational excellence. I’m particularly happy to use the expertise I learned at SAP to help them solve their problems. SAP has given me valuable opportunities to travel around the world and become a trusted global advisor to customers. In fact, it is this sense of achievement, as well as the affirmation from clients and managers, that makes me passionate in my daily work and strive to do my best!
