Recently, I have been helping the team to recruit posts for community operation and flow operation. I have screened a lot of resumes, but also encountered some practical problems in resume screening. Today, take the opportunity to talk about why you sent out 1000 resumes and still didn’t get a good interview or even an offer.


Looking at this news, I also have a feeling that in real life, some people are turned down by countless resumes. Is it because of their own ability? Or is there something wrong with the resume?



Here, I give examples of mistakes that I have seen more frequently recently, which are divided into three points: resume writing, objective factors and demand satisfaction


Resumes become job descriptions


It is said that products and operations are inseparable. A good Internet product manager must also know the conventional knowledge of operation, and even the ability of operation is not worse than the operation of students.


In the resume screening, I have seen many new operation or product recruits put product manager or operation job description on the resume.


Let’s take a look at the basic description of the product manager’s accusation:

It’s hard to tell the difference between the two. HR is the person in charge of the department, so it is difficult to see the characteristics and experience of this student’s product work resume.



Of course, those of you who have done Internet projects will certainly have some distinctive experience in your product or operation resume.


The following operation student in the job description, let people see a little want to invite the impulse



There are not only specific project cases, but also specific values and the name of the operation method used. The operation work is divided into user operation and product operation, so that the resume screeners can obviously experience the work experience of the student.



Objective factors



Objective factors here refer to some factors that cannot be changed, and these factors must exist in our resume. For this reason, let’s leave aside the last point about demand satisfaction. There are several objective factors which I can sum up as


  • Degree required

  • Gender requirements

  • The age requirement

  • Professional requirements

  • Job-hopping frequency

  • Graduated from the fixed number of year


The above six objective factors, I personally in the screening resume to consider. Some friends may ask why should you consider gender?


Yes, we do consider gender in hiring in the workplace. Not because of gender differences, but because of the current project situation, the future pressure, men do do better than women in the workplace.


For example, a product needs to be launched in 2 months, and everything needs to start from zero. There is no product team, no development team, no operational resources. Then I will work overtime all day and night on Saturday and Sunday, and everyone in the team will be all in as much as possible. (Can be adjusted or leave)


For men, team leaders are more relaxed about this. Women, on the other hand, may not be able to cope with such jobs, or are at high risk of quitting because they are planning to have children or get married



The second is the major and degree, in the same three years of work experience in community operation students. For a health Internet enterprise


  • One is an undergraduate medical major


  • One is college computer science


I would choose the former in resume screening. And now in first-tier cities, unicorns or BAT enterprises are becoming more and more attractive to talents. Education is usually required to be above bachelor’s degree. Even in order to achieve a good educational rate of employees in enterprises, it is believed that people with higher education are more likely to do excellent jobs in the work.



The length of time of job-hopping frequency, I suggest in about 1 year. If I see two jobs in a row that change within six months, I think the person is unstable. For this reason, I suggest a good job hopping frequency of about 1 year is the best. Internet workers were once mocked as “job-hopping” industries.


We have to admit that with the rapid development of technology and the lack of talents, it is very normal to poach each other’s corners.



Meet the demand


This can be taken as a subjective factor to compare the people we recruit to meet our needs in the vast sea of people. It takes a little serendipity.


When an enterprise sends out a recruitment, the recruiter who compares the person in charge will give a specific demand range, such as JD for community operation



Most of the time, an operation or product person in the same company will do too many projects over the accumulative working hours, and we cannot require each project to match our job responsibilities.


It may be that part of the job content of the other candidate matches our needs. Recruiters can only decide who to invite based on who is a better match and who has a higher number of matches


If you work in Internet finance, there’s no doubt that employers in the healthcare community will have a hard time hiring you. Although they are the same community modules, but they are different industries, recruiters still hope to have the same industry knowledge for endorsement.


Secondly, when the employer needs a background student to do membership system, this is the time when most of your resume is in this area. The match is so high that they call the interview.



It’s not that you’re not good enough
