Abecas first issue [vision opening] theme sharing
Speaker: Fruit

On March 14, Google unveiled a new version of its Android operating system, P, which unsurprisingly stands for Pie in the tradition of desserts. According to the official timeline, the first preview version of DP1 will be officially released at the end of July and the beginning of August, and we will probably have to wait until October to get it.

eggs

Every Android operating system comes with its own version of the Easter egg, and there have been kittens before, but this one is a bit spicy. With the P word as the center, the high saturation color matching circle diverges and has its own rotating dynamic effect of a picture, look for a long time, really a little dizzy.

The UI is a little bit more colorful and a little bit more rounded

Looking through the updates, it’s not hard to see that the new version of the UI generally favors rounded corners and more color.

The main interface

In the main interface, the background color of the Dock bar was weighted and the small upward arrow was removed. (I thought it was because the guidance of the small arrow was not good)

At the same time, I moved quick search to the Dock and added a voice input button with rounded corners on both sides of the input box.

When the volume solid key is pressed, a slider responding to the volume size will appear on the interface to control the volume size with visual presentation. In previous Versions of Android, there have been a number of cases where users have misadjusted the volume of media to the system ringtone, causing the phone to go silent and miss a call. Therefore, in this new version, the adjustment of the volume of the display made a relatively large change. 1. The horizontal left and right adjustment is changed to vertical up and down adjustment, which is more consistent with the psychological model of “voice level”; 2. Support switching a variety of output audio and adjust; 3. Permanent button to change the ringtone type; 4. Volume adjustment Automatically distinguish the current volume type (media, ringtone, call, etc.) according to different scenarios

(This point, Xiao Ni added after the meeting: Domestic mobile phone MIUI already has such functions)

At the same time, for the visual elements, the use of larger rounded corners and light color scheme, a stronger sense of card.

Quickly set up

In the quick Settings panel, a circular background color is added for each function button, with blue background and white icon when it is on and gray background and black icon when it is off, which emphasizes the functionality of [switch]. The module as a whole is distinguished by rounded card and status bar area. The ability to drop down to select more links was removed, given that Google didn’t think many people knew about it (really? Everyone seems to think it works.)

System Settings

In the system Settings, the way ICONS are handled is also added round bottom, and more color is used to distinguish specific functions.

Notification bar

The rounded corners of the notification bar’s expansion area are more clearly defined in the function partition than the quick set rounded corners. Improvements and optimizations to the notification bar have been in progress since Android M, but this version emphasizes more visual elements, showing the avatar of a person in a conversation before the name, and also allowing you to view images attached to messages in the notification bar. In addition, since Google has added a local neural network in the new version, there will be some intelligent recommended response tags to quickly reply to messages.

Speaking of notification boards, it brings us to the second big change:

The notification board knows you better

Notification can be divided into two types: application push passive message, and active message.

Notify the push

One-click blocking of recent notifications

In the new notification Settings, there is a section called Recent Push apps and a one-click switch to turn them off. Setting up a Channel in Android O does not help users completely block these annoying notifications.

Quickly block notifications that are often ignored

Thanks to smarter neural networks, a block button (the red minus sign in the picture) will automatically appear in the notification bar once a user has ignored an app’s push several times. When clicked, a BTN request will appear below, allowing the user to choose whether to block messages from the app or continue pushing.

Quick Reply to dialogue

Smart reply

This feature was covered in UI changes for the Notification bar and will not be repeated. But earlier in the iOS version of Message, using the native keyboard also gave you a quick selection of partial alternatives for conversations.

Completion of dialogue

When receiving a conversation message, the notification bar automatically pulls the next message to provide the context of the conversation context.

Little details are more like iOS

Search Settings

In the system Settings, Android directly placed the search expansion in the Tool bar, which is the same as iOS. It can be seen that the two systems are crammed with so many functions that they need to add the search function to help users locate quickly.

A magnifying glass

The ability to invoke a magnifying glass by holding down the cursor while typing has always been one of the most detailed aspects of the iOS user experience, and in this release, Android has added a similar feature.

Fit “Bangs”

Since the release of iPhone X, all domestic mobile phones have been quickly equipped with “bangs”. Even Essential Phone has no better solution for bangs, but retains a smaller bangs. To accommodate most high-end models, the bangs give Android developers multiple sizes to match the model.

New transitional dynamic effect

When switching from APPLICATION A to application B, application A was originally pushed back along the Z axis, and application B entered the field from the bottom up. Instead, application A entered the field from the horizontal right side, and application B entered from the left side.

The overall dynamic effect seems to transition more naturally and the hierarchy of the application is clearer.

For the dynamic effect of switching function in the specific application, the mode of fading down is changed to expanding up.

Small functions are more free

Disable automatic screen rotation

In the new version, the screen does not automatically rotate according to the direction of gravity after the device is rotated. Instead, a button that manually rotates the screen appears on the far right of the virtual key area, at the top after the rotation. This feature gives the user more freedom in the orientation of the screen, rather than just auto turn or fixed in one direction.

The screenshots key

Due to the open characteristics of Android, many hardware equipped with Android system have various ways of capturing screen, which is relatively expensive for platform users to learn. In addition, the functions of physical keys are corresponding to virtual keys in the interface to meet different boundary conditions. Therefore, in the options after long pressing the power button, a screenshot button was added to distinguish it from the other two by the background color.

The unlock gesture fades out

This function has already appeared in many domestic ROMs before, aiming to protect user privacy, and this function has been officially added in this version.

Power saving mode

In the new version, you can set the threshold of power saving mode. The red background color in the Status bar and virtual key area after power saving mode is turned on is removed, and the saving mode description in the notification bar and the + sign on the battery icon are replaced.

Use WiFi RTT for indoor positioning

In this new version, WiFi RTT technology began to be supported, expanding the future mobile phone can be based on location in the indoor scenario.

For mobile cellular networks, we all know that precise location can be achieved, and the most commonly used methods are triangulation and fingerprinting as shown in the figure below.

So what kind of technology is RTT for WiFi? The protocol enables indoor location on supported Android devices using the new RTT API to measure the actual distance to nearby Wi-Fi access points. There is no need for the device to connect to these Wi-Fi access points during the positioning process, and only the phone can determine the distance, meaning that nearby Wi-Fi access points cannot in turn sense the Android device’s position.

In this regard, we can think of more things we can do for indoor location in the future. The function of indoor positioning reminds me of the previous research on indoor positioning technology, and I found a bluetooth technology called Beacon, which uses fixed hardware and mobile terminal to achieve indoor positioning. The scene and video below are from a company that expanded with Beacon technology.

In addition, as of the time of sharing, Apple also held a new product release conference ~ interested students to search for information to see.
