A long, long time ago, there was a video to do English resume, some students urged to Chinese version of the resume.

In the past few months, I have consulted many domestic friends, headhunters and HR, and read a large number of Resumes in Chinese, so I conclude this article to share with you.

Although the autumn recruitment is over, but the resume is a lifetime thing, we can directly pull the temporary need to the end of the article like collection ~

I think there are two main functions of a resume:

  • One is to get an interview;
  • Two is in the interview to talk about, convenient interview questions.

So the resume is very, very important, how to change the resume is not too much, after all, sharpening the knife does not miss the firewood worker.

The standard resume style is simple, four-paragraph, and applies to both domestic and foreign companies:

  • Education background
  • skills
  • internship
  • Project experience

Of course, these are the forms, other formats are also available, you can reply “resume” in the background of the public account to get my selected Chinese and English resume template, including all the resume appeared in the article.

In general, a good resume is one that is simple, no color, one page, highlights, and shows all aspects of your academic ability.

As for whether or not to put photos, I asked my friends in China, we have different opinions, and the company has different requirements. In short, it is allowed to put photos. But the United States must not put the job, will involve all kinds of discrimination.

Let’s talk about these four paragraphs.

Education background

This style is recommended:

【 英 文 resume 】

【 resume 】

Include your school, major, date of graduation/admission, and GPA. Don’t put GPA on a single line.

There are two main myths:

  1. Don’t write about the courses you took. Unless your resume is empty and you don’t have anything to write about, you need to fill it up with courses.
  2. GPA is very important for new graduates, some companies are very concerned about it, and a high GPA is definitely a plus, so it’s best to include it. But don’t write below 3.5.

With the increase of experience, the degree is less and less important, so for those who have worked for more than five years, you can also put your education background on the last paragraph.

skills

The skills section is an important module, especially for freshmen and sophomore students or students without strong project experience, the interview can only ask the basic knowledge, so you should write well.

It is recommended that you prepare a different resume for each job opening. Different jobs require different skills, so put the skills most relevant to the job opening at the top of the list, in descending order. Or write them in the order you’re best at, and bold them if you want them to stand out.

Each type of skill as much as possible line, so convenient and good-looking.

There are still very different ways of writing resumes in Chinese and English.

It is recommended to list these skills directly, preferably with how many years you have used them, for example:

  • Programming: Java (3 years), C++ (3 years), C (5 years), Python (3 years), PHP(1 year), JavaScript (1 year), SQL (1 year)

I find that Chinese resume should be modified with some attributives:

  • Proficient in Java programming, good coding ability
  • Proficient in object-oriented programming
  • Proficient in computer working principle, operating system principle, computer network principle
  • Proficient in JVM, JMM model
  • Proficient in common data structures and algorithms and able to use them flexibly in projects
  • Database proficiency
  • .

Anyway, here’s the point:

  • I can do what others can do!
  • If others can’t, I can!
  • I have everything you need!

By the way, pay attention to the case of proper nouns, such as Java instead of Java, which will look unprofessional.

So I also give you a summary of common computer related proper nouns, to compare it

In view of the content is more, I also put the common technical vocabulary in the background of the public account, reply to “resume” can be obtained.

correct error
Java JAVA, java
Spring spring
Spring Boot SpringBoot, Springboot
Spring MVC SpringMVC, Springmvc
MySQL mySql
NoSQL noSql
MyBatis mybatis
Maven maven
Redis redis
Web web
Linux LINUX
HTML html
CSS css

And then there are the two main points, the project and the internship, the internship or the project first and there are two criteria:

  • Whenever it’s updated, put it first
  • Which one is fuller, highlights your skills and appeals to the interviewer, and which comes first

Experience in project

Project experience is one of the most important parts of a resume, and it’s also the place to start in an interview.

How do you write each item?

The STAR principles, Situation, Task, Action, and Result, are recommended here.

  • S is for situation, under what circumstances things happen and why the project is being done. Don’t say that your boss or teacher told you to do well.

  • T stands for task.

  • A is for action. What kind of action did you take in response to the situation?

  • R is for result, what is the result, what did you learn in this situation.

For the project experience, the interview will often ask what difficulties, how to overcome such as, that is corresponding to the Action section, so according to the idea, logical, easy to locate the answer.

The common question here, especially for students who change majors, is what to do if there is no project?

  • If you’re already working, you can tweak your current job description.
  • If you’re a student, projects are even more important. Create projects without projects.

Here are some ways to find projects:

  1. The first is Github. We can search for keywords and add the number of stars or other conditions to screen out suitable projects.
  2. The second is through some paid courses, such as UDEmy, about 10 dollars per class, various big Data, Java Spring, Hadopp, Tensorflow, ML, fullstack and so on. Take two courses and do a couple projects and put them on your resume in about a month. Home should also have website of relevant course, everybody can review area to recommend.

Here is another tip for everyone, on-site interview, everyone to their own project to do a PPT presentation, and then print out attached to the resume, so that when talking with the interviewer resume can be PPT screenshots, the effect is very good!

internship

For the internship experience, you must write clearly the internship position ah.

To reiterate what was said above, it is advisable to prepare a different resume for each position.

Because hiring isn’t necessarily about hiring the “best” people, it’s about hiring the best people; When looking for an object, two 🐂 people may not be able to be together, the right one is the best.

Take me as an example. I majored in financial engineering, but I have invested in quant/ Risk /data scientist/ SDE. So I have four types of resumes with the same experience, but I can write them according to the position I want to invest.

Sde: Software development Engineer, that’s what I’m doing now

For example, I had the same internship (actually an internship with Quant) :

  • The position of investing in Quant focuses on how I set up this trading strategy, what is sharpe ratio, what is return, and how good the model is.
  • The resume of risk should highlight how I carried out risk control for this trading strategy, such as how to calculate VAR, Monte Carlo simulation, etc.
  • The resume I submitted to Data focuses on the process of data processing and analysis in my project, how to clean and organize data. After all, any model is based on data.
  • I will focus on how I used python/c++ to write this model, because the model is finally implemented into the code, so why my code is better than others, and what optimization I made to increase the time of this code to run a year’s data from 5 minutes to 20 seconds. This is one of the most common questions I get asked in any interview, even a Risk Quant interview, and the interviewer will be interested in how I did it. This is when I showed off my programming skills and learning ability. I wrote it in Python. Pythonic way, that’s a good word to put on a resume, because it’s a very idiomatic way to say it.

There are many different ways to write the same thing. For example, I saw this joke on the Internet before:

Finally, if your resume is not strong enough, you can also add a paragraph about awards and hobbies, but these things will not be important after a few years of working, so you can choose between four and five paragraphs.

Well, the above is to build the interview harvester resume all content, believe that you write down according to this process, the interview is indispensable, the rest is a matter of time.

In today’s video, there are three tips for applying for a resume, all of which are very practical and instantly effective
