Spotlight Search

The basic Spotlight feature is search. Just type in a keyword and you’ll find all the files, apps, websites, browsing history, folders, and even locations associated with that keyword.

Spotlight can also be used as a computer. When you type in an answer, Spotlight will automatically figure it out for you.

Spotlight Conversion

Want to convert currency rates? No problem, Spotlight can do the same, also input the amount and currency, will appear the conversion rate of each currency.

Now that you can convert exchange rates, simple unit conversion can also be easily done by Spotlight. Just like with exchange rates, when you input numbers and units, Spotlight will do the conversion for you.

Spotlight also has shortcuts

There are also great shortcuts to use in Spotlight, so if you’re good at it, you’ll be able to use it completely.

Command + Enter/Mouse Click: open the file path

In the Spotlight search result, clicking on the searched file with command + Enter/mouse will become a path to open the Finder and display the file instead of opening the file directly.

Command + B: Network search

After you type Spotlight into the keyword you want to search for, press Command + B to search for that keyword directly on the Web in your default browser.

Command + I: Get more information

Pressing Command + I in a file or folder of search results displays more details about that file or folder.

Command + L: Search by dictionary

When you type a keyword into Spotlight, you press Command + L and the keyword is searched in a dictionary with translations, word explanations, and so on.
