I looked at some of yesterday’s comments while I was writing my technical post at home and was impressed by this:

So let me talk about that today.

I have a lot of feelings about reading to change fate, and I think my whole family has a lot of feelings.

First, let’s talk about my hometown. In a remote village in Zunyi, Guizhou province, there was no road when I went one kilometer down to the village. The cement road was built after MY sophomore year, so the traffic was very inconvenient for a long time before that.

Last year, during the epidemic, our village chief said that there was no need to worry, as long as the road at the gate of the village was closed, the village would be isolated from the rest of the world. I think this is a rough remark, but not a rough one. There are many mountain villages like this in Yungui Chuan.

It’s not just transportation that lags behind in places like this, it’s education in general.

The picture below shows the primary school here. There are only three grades in primary school. Those in grade three or above need to go to live in schools in towns farther away.

Nowadays, because of the popularization of compulsory education, the average level of knowledge of children is much higher, but the gap between grandpa and parents is very big.

Born in a small village like this, I was always lucky to be in a big family that cared about education, and it was my grandfather who brought it about.

Grandpa is a veteran, because some culture in this small village as the principal, is the above picture of the primary school.

Young army, the outside world has enriched grandpa’s vision, he is convinced that knowledge can change fate, so in that everyone is thinking about how to eat, grandpa even smashed the pot to sell iron, against the huge pressure of the outside world also want to read for their children.

My uncles failed in the college entrance examination once he let them re-read once, listen to my father said, big uncle the college entrance examination 3 times, two uncle the college entrance examination 2 times.

My brothers and sisters went to the top universities. My grandfather’s order was that we must go to college. If we couldn’t pass the exams, we had to repeat the exams for another year, even if we weren’t satisfied.

Maybe it is quite normal for everyone to go to college, but I would like to say that in fact, in our small village, it is rare to see people like grandpa and father who insist on sending their children to school.

The granaries are well stocked; the granaries are well stocked before they can think of other things. And in that small village, in those days, it was not easy to get enough to eat.

Reading means that a young man cannot earn money, and it costs money to study.

You may think that it is expensive to study, but I remember that compulsory education was not universal until the beginning of my next term, and my brothers and sisters and I did not enjoy the benefits of compulsory education.

From childhood to childhood, the cost of books, tuition fees, living expenses for doctoral studies and postgraduate studies, as well as overseas study expenses, real money and silver piled up for my brothers and sisters to get out of the mountains.

In that time, a lot of old people in the village are to let the child drop out of school early, farming work, they always say: you see who who who work earn how much, who who who children have, who bought a car, bought a house, read so much, afraid won’t read silly, 27 haven’t married later can find a wife yao….. And so on.

Farming, working, building houses, buying cars. In those days, our extended family always seemed to be one step behind. Because they had to support their brothers and sisters to study, uncles and aunts almost didn’t buy a house or a car. Moreover, most of the part-time jobs were physical work, and the diseases would eat up their small savings after a long time, so they hardly saved much money.

When I wrote the article about buying a car at the beginning of last year, some people thought I was pretending to be pushy, but in fact it was the most true emotion in my heart.

Now look at me, and my brothers and sisters are glowing in their respective industries, have an elder brother in Singapore, another brother is also preparing to study for a medical doctor, everyone’s life is getting better and better, chatting together when we are still very thank grandpa bring us the most precious wealth, education, uncle grandpa and grandma were talking to are also eye has a light, grandpa is gone, But his thoughts continue to influence and accompany us.

In fact, for some people, reading is not the only way out, and for our family, reading gave us out of the mountain.

Anyway, I’m Aobing and I’ll see you next time.
