As the overseas influence of Apache ShardingSphere community gradually expands, more and more overseas users begin to pay attention to and participate in the construction of Apache ShardingSphere and related ecology.
Among them, ThanoshanMV, a student from Sabalagamuwa University in Sri Lanka, formally got acquainted with Apache ShardingSphere in the Google Open Source Summer (GSoC) activity. With its outstanding contribution in ShardingSphere SQL file parsing, Apache ShardingSphere PMC has been nominated and approved, and has recently become a Committer of Apache ShardingSphere community.
ThanoshanMV is a computer and Information systems major at Sabalagamuwa University in Sri Lanka. Trained by science, he has shown a strong interest in computer and programming since childhood. As a result, the Apache ShardingSphere project, written in the Java language, was chosen as part of the GSoC and attracted ThanoshanMV.
ThanoshanMV actively cooperated with the mentors of Apache ShardingSphere in this GSoC. With the support of the three mentors, ThanoshanMV has successfully completed the proofreading of Oracle DML SQL definition under ShardingSphere SQL parsing engine, and synchronized the update into the new version of Apache ShardignSphere. This enabled ThanoshanMV to experience the sense of accomplishment brought by open source. Therefore, ThanoshanMV still chose to stay in the Apache ShardingSphere community after the event, and continued to provide great help and contribution to the community in the aspect of SQL parsing.
Active Contributor
Before becoming a community Committer, ThanoshanMV had another role in the community as an Active Contributor.
At present, Apache ShardingSphere community has established a relatively perfect Contributor growth mechanism. Active Contributors are newly set up between community Contributors and committers. To encourage active contributors in the community.
How to become an Apache ShardingSphere Community Contributor?
Apache ShardingSphere community welcomes interested students to participate in it. Openness and inclusiveness have always been the two characteristics of Apache ShardingSphere community. Therefore, the open source community does not set specific thresholds for all users. For those of you who want to participate in open source, the best advice is to do it now, if you have the will.
Of course, it is not necessary to submit features or modules to participate in open source projects. Translation, community operation, optimization of documents, blogs and other activities that are beneficial to the community are all ways to contribute to building the community. At present, the influence of Apache ShardingSphere at home and abroad is gradually expanding, and more and more partners start to try and actively participate in community construction.
