Security firm Check Point has uncovered a major security flaw in WinRAR, a popular tool, that has existed since at least 2005, allowing hackers to insert malicious software into a user’s boot program. WinRAR is a software tool specially designed for Wndows, which can compress data and archive. It can create RAR and ZIP file formats, and can uncompress more than ten file formats including ACE, CAB, ISO, XZ, ZIP and 7Z. It is a shareware with trial period. The WinRAR website claims it is the most popular compression tool in the world, with more than 500 million users.
