For more than a month, I have had to turn off the automatic update of Windows 10 every day. A few days ago, I couldn’t stand it, so I decided to switch to Windows 7. Share some of your own system reinstallation process and experience. The explanatory text of the article is more, chop wood do not forget to sharpen the sword.

Before we begin, let me emphasize that you must back up your data before reinstalling your system. Data is priceless.

Download the Windows 7 image

Download it from the “I tell you” website. This is a personal nature of the original software information collection site

Windows 7 comes in six versions: Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, ⑤ Windows 7 Enterprise, ⑥ Windows 7 Ultimate

I chose the flagship version, fourth from last. Service Pack 1 is Microsoft’s major security patch, which is recommended for direct integration. If you need to install other versions, do the same.

Download method: through thunderbolt download, copy all the text in the ED2K box into the download link.

In addition, the site can download not only the original version of the system, but also some other Microsoft software, such as the database SQL Server and so on. A look in the navigation bar may reveal more. (If you are interested, you can download DOS and Windows 8 to install on the VIRTUAL machine and try other systems.)

Two, make PE

First you need a USB flash drive (or memory card + card reader), 4 gb or 8 GB is fine.

Why do we need a FLASH drive? You can imagine that you are on a high platform and you need to reconstruct the high platform. Do you leave and reconstruct, or do you stay and reconstruct? This usb drive is where we stay while we rebuild the platform.

Second use micro PE toolbox to make PE, it can be understood that the installation software installed on the U disk (although not accurate).

PE is a Windows preinstallation environment. It is a simple operating system provided by Microsoft to maintain software on hard disks for free. It has very low requirements on hardware configuration and can be used to start a PC from a CD-ROM, USB disk, or mobile disk.

This PE is very recommended, very clean and simple efficient PE, should have, should not have of course not.

Specific method (section) on the second floor: https://tieba.baidu.com/p/4261164243

Note: Windows 10 PE can be used with Windows 7. In addition, you may have spotted the words “Full NVME disk support” under the download button. This NVME is an SSD interface specification built on the M.2 interface.

We often use USB is also a kind of interface, USB 2.0 speed theory up to 60MB/s, USB 3.0 theory up to 625MB/s. SATA interfaces are configured on the motherboard. SATA is the hard disk interface specification. The SATA II has a theoretical top speed of 300MB/s, while the SATA III has a theoretical top speed of 750 MB/s, which represents the maximum speed that devices using this interface can achieve. NVME has a speed of thousands of Megabits per second. Perhaps you are interested in a few run of NVME points figure: https://www.zhihu.com/question/49419208

But win7 original mirror does not have USB3.0 driver, no NVMe driver. This can cause some reinstallation problems, which I’ll discuss later.

Change the BIOS boot option

Explain BIOS first, computer is by motherboard, memory, hard disk, power supply and so on hardware composition, the main circuit series that installed the composition computer above motherboard, offer a series of juncture, for instance hard disk, show card, peripherals and so on. And BIOS is the motherboard in the factory, written by the manufacturer in the motherboard, is a set motherboard software.

If we have a mechanical hard drive, a SOLID-state drive, and a USB stick, and all three have operating systems, which operating system do we switch to when we boot up? The one with the highest bit order in the BIOS boot item.

It’s time to get into the flash drive and reconstruct the platform.

Use the U disk to make a good PE after restarting the computer. The USB flash drive is connected to the USB port.

When you turn it on, the computer goes from a black screen to a gray one, and then a picture appears. When it turns gray, press the BIOS shortcut key. The shortcut key needs to search the key corresponding to the mainboard model. After entering the BIOS, adjust the boot sequence of the USB flash drive to the first place.

In the image below, the Boot Priority Order is my SSD in first place and my mechanical hard drive in fourth place. Among them, ATA HDD is ATA hard disk drive, which tends to mechanical hard disk solid state disk, USB HDD is USB hard disk drive, which tends to mobile hard disk, AND USB FDD is mini floppy disk mode.

Note that most also need to set Boot Mode to Legacy Support and Boot Priority to Legacy First. This step needs to be fine-tuned according to the actual situation, but the boot sequence must be set.

At this time, it is recommended to refer to the experience of others to share, search your computer model corresponding BIOS Settings.

Hotkey Mode is used to adjust the shortcut keys, such as fn + F1, or F1 to increase the volume. Into BIOS is also, is to press FN + FX to go or a FX on the line.

Four, hard disk partition

PE contains two hard Disk partitioning software, Disk Genius and Partition Assistant.

If a new system is required, that is, using the original system, the former is recommended.

If there is a need to migrate the system from the previous disk to a new disk, this situation tends to move the system from a mechanical disk to a solid-state disk (which is not a trivial improvement), the latter is recommended.

Five, install the system

I use the original image, using the CGI restoration method.

Specific method (5 – the ninth floor part) : https://tieba.baidu.com/p/4261164243

If in the BIOS to modify the boot, just put the U disk in the first, and the second is your system disk, then shut down the U disk boot, will automatically enter the new system. When you need to re-enter the PE, directly insert the USB disk and restart. This reduces a lot of steps.

The system was installed successfully.

Six, install the driver

The original image will have less drivers, maybe the computer won’t be able to access the Internet, maybe something else. Find the corresponding driver installation in the motherboard’s official website. If you install Windows 7, you may need a few drivers. You are advised to find one that has integrated drivers, or make more efforts on your own.

After installing the driver, you can use the system normally. You are advised to back up the system and save the backup file for future use.

Seven, some problems

Let me talk about the problems I encountered in the process of reinstalling the system.

First of all, when I reinstalled the system for the first time, I did not use PE method, but directly wrote the ISO file into the USB disk through UltralSO. However, when I entered the installation page of Win 7, I was prompted “I could not find the driver”, and the installation failed. The reason for this problem is that I plugged my USB flash drive into a USB 3.0 port, which Windows 7 doesn’t come with! Naturally, data cannot be read.

I then used a micro PE to reinstall the system on a SOLID-state drive plugged into the NVME M.2 port and encountered a blue screen after setting up the boot option. I didn’t even see the installation page this time. For the same reason, Windows 7 doesn’t ship nvMe drivers. That’s how I learned that my laptop had an NVME interface.

There was a small episode, I used the original image of Win 10 to operate it again in PE environment. The system ran perfectly and the speed was really fast. It confirms that the blue screen was not caused by my actions. Originally I want to be so, then install Win 7 also want to hit the driver, the result…. Windows 10 updates automatically immediately upon reboot? Thanks to Win 10 for inspiring me.

Next is how to install THE USB 3.0 driver and NVME driver into the mirror problem, I found a tool to inject the mirror driver, because it is not their own, can not guarantee its security, I will not share.

Since it is already the original mirror, it is better to type in the driver you need, I need to study this part more. If I had installed Windows 10 last year, the reinstallation probably wouldn’t have failed.

Finally, the system was reinstalled with the generated image, and Win 7 was successfully installed.

Eight, the last

In Windows 7, some operations are not as convenient as Those of Windows 10, but the advantages are simplicity and simplicity, and there is no annoying automatic update, which makes me feel that this computer is really my own. If you don’t like the hassle, just restore the system, or use the original Windows 10 image.

This article doesn’t go into too much detail, because different computers are more or less different. The best way to do this is to understand the steps, understand why you are doing it, and then follow the article for specific models so that problems can be easily solved. It is better to teach a man to fish than to give him fish.

Hope you can have a clean, “belong to their own” computer.
