Exfat format is recommended for U disk. Why? Two reasons: 1. All three major operating systems (Linux, Mac, and Windows) support ExFAT. 2. Exfat supports files larger than 4G.
Ubuntu does not support exFAT usb drives by default for copyright reasons (reportedly), but it is easy to add exfat support: For ubuntu 14.04 and above, simply run the following command:
sudo apt-get install exfat-utils
