Ah, haven’t updated in nuggets in a long time…
By the time you read this article, I will have finished my employment formalities and left Mogu Street. It has been more than two years since I started my internship in Mogujie in early 19th. Two years is neither short nor long.
I have seen off many friends in Mogujie before, but when the protagonist is me, I can’t express my feelings in my heart.
Left guangzhou
When I was a junior in college, I said to my parents at dinner one night, “Maybe, after graduation, I will work in other cities, not just Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen or Hangzhou.”
My dad heard that and said, “Huh? Can’t you find a job in Guangzhou after you graduate? Why go to another city?”
Me: “I feel that there are not so many Internet opportunities in Guangzhou.”
I added, “Not necessarily, but just to let you know in advance. It is possible to go to these cities in the future, and it is also possible to stay in Guangzhou. I’ll see what I can do after the interview, and I’ll let you know when I make a decision.”
My mom: “Well, we’ll see. If you do go to another city, we will support you. It’s up to you.”
As a result, during the autumn recruitment period, I really got offers from various cities…
When I decided to leave Guangzhou, I also considered a lot: all my friends, family members and girlfriend are in Guangzhou, leaving Guangzhou means THAT I have to work alone in a strange city for at least two years. However, it is foreseeable that I will have more opportunities to see different people and things, learn and practice common techniques in the industry, and earn a relatively competitive salary each month.
Is it worth it?
If you choose to stay in Guangzhou, you can live quite comfortably in a non-Internet company. On weekends, I can accompany my family to go out for a walk and hang out. At ordinary times, I can invite my friends to have tea and dinner. The script was already written, because that was the life I was living during my junior internship.
I chose to leave Guangzhou because I was young.
There were many reasons for leaving Guangzhou at that time: to improve their skills and cognitive ability, the platform is relatively larger, there is potential for development and higher salary…
No matter what the reason, the ultimate goal is for the future to be able to better life (: just graduated young, and how can miss such an opportunity?
Choose MOGU
After two months of struggle in autumn recruitment and getting offers from major cities, the only thing left is the choice.
Like everyone else, I go online and compare companies (pay, atmosphere, overtime, technology, business development, etc.).
After final consideration, I chose MOGU as the first company I graduated from.
At that time, I was mainly interested in two aspects of MOGU:
- technology
- Company atmosphere (no overtime)
Two years later, when I look back on my decision, I don’t regret it at all.
MOGU two years
I went to MOGU as an intern in The search team in February of ’19. It was a very interesting time (:
I just walked in. I don’t know anything. On the first day, my upperclassman opened a conference room for me and spent an hour alone explaining to me how MOGU search was done, why we used C++ instead of Java in our main search, and what the whole recall process was like.
At the same time, he emphasized: I just give you a general introduction, I guess you don’t understand many parts, you can take your time, there is no rush.
Well, I just sit there every day and learn everything (gc logs, in-house frameworks, TensorFlow frameworks, etc…).
MOGU is very open: many times, colleagues would run to their desks with their computers and ask what the process was like and how to implement it.
I, on the other hand, listen, but there are a few words I hear over and over again:
- The gold medal
- ACM
- Incremental (dump)
- .
I am confused, how often discuss ACM and gold medal of? What’s dump?
Only later did I discover that ACM was a dot system used in the station, only named ACM. Incremental DUMP usually refers to receiving data in real time to do ETL…
There are times when I find out what the term actually means and I can’t help but laugh.
During the internship, the group was connected with the message management platform system, but due to lack of staff, they could not get over it, so I was sent to support it. Asked for leave to reply to the school, the first senior left (:
After the resignation of my first senior, I have been working on the message management platform. After three months, the second senior also left.
So, accidentally became the sole person in charge of the message management platform (:
Later, due to the adjustment of organizational structure, I was assigned to the advertising commercialization team.
As I iterated on the message management platform, freeing up maintenance manpower, I gradually started working on ad-related data and business. Migrate advertising effect report data from Storm to Flink system, build CPS link based on direct broadcast room… I got a promotion a year after graduation.
After two years, I still have a lot to learn in technology and business, and the company’s technical atmosphere is as good as ever.
These two years are the period when my technical level has improved the fastest, but I chose to quit at this stage of rapid development. Why?
Leave the MOGU
There’s always a reason to leave
Many friends were surprised and asked me, “Why did you quit?” when they knew I was going to quit.
Most of the time, I also smiled and answered, “Well, I just want to go back to Guangzhou.”
Also once helplessly said: “If the mushroom street in Guangzhou also have a, how good ah, I don’t have to leave.”
After making the decision to leave, my father didn’t understand either: “Don’t you always say good things about the company? Why did you leave? I thought you would work for a longer time before coming back. Can you find such a good company when you return to Guangzhou?”
I said bluntly, “Well, I’m afraid not.”
Such a good condition of the company, then why I quit, many times I also ask myself.
During my two years in Hangzhou, WHENEVER I had a long or medium vacation, I almost always flew to Guangzhou. Go home and spend time with your family, meet your girlfriend, ask your classmates out for a late night snack.
Every time I came back to my dormitory after my vacation, I could not help thinking: “Oh, I have come back to Hangzhou.”
On weekends or small holidays, sometimes it rains, I don’t want to go to the company, so I just stay in the dormitory, but I don’t know what to do.
I don’t play games very much, so I’ll watch a movie, which will make me tired, then I’ll go to bed and watch B station, which seems to be a little sleepy, and close the curtains by the way. Well, I didn’t sleep. The room was dark, quiet, dawdling, and it was six o ‘clock in the evening. At this time, should I order a takeaway, or go out for a meal by myself, what should I eat, around the takeaway I vomited… Groggy, tired, just remembered the day did not do anything, grass!
I stayed in MOGU for two years. During this period, I sent away two seniors, my friends in the group and the business side… The co-worker who was sitting next door or across from you suddenly finds out that he left and all that’s left is an empty seat.
Loneliness is real
When my familiar colleagues leave the company, when I have nothing to do alone on weekends, when I go back to hangzhou alone after a vacation, when my family members are ill and cannot take care of them, when I cannot meet in a long-distance relationship, I will have the idea of leaving the company.
However, these happened to be concentrated in April ~ May, so I decided to mention the resignation.
MOGU&& Hangzhou impression
In the past two years, I think Hangzhou is a warm city for me.
- Crossing the road, the driver will ask people.
- On festivals, landlords send small gifts.
- When leaving, friends sincerely wish.
- .
As for the company, I am a MOGU blower, and I found that there are also a lot of MOGU blowers who are my friends after leaving MOGU.
“In Hangzhou, the company can be named, the company atmosphere is not better than mogujie, Mogujie does not work overtime ah.”
“I don’t feel like the tech scene at Ali is as good as it was when I was at Mogujie.”
I got to know a lot of good friends in MOGU, and I have to say it’s my old group of friends of the same age. Because I was the same age, SO I played closer. I played a small group of “Road to Wealth and Freedom”.
There are four people in the group: Three crooked, egg, Ao Bing, rice bean. The egg went to byte, rice bean went to Ali, Ao Bing has wealth freedom, the rest of the three skewed in Guangzhou waiting for a company to eat food.
Most of the students who left MOGU, many of them jumped to Byte and Ali (
When a friend of mine went to meet Ali, he came back and gave us feedback. Ali’s interviewer once said to him, “I think mogujie’s friends are very reliable. I like them very much.”
He took both ali and Byte’s offer, but ended up going to Byte… (hahaha
If there are students who want to job-hopping or school recruitment has not considered which company to work for, might as well consider mogujie.
Looking forward to
When I mentioned leaving, my friends and colleagues all joked that I would go home to inherit the family property and collect rent. My friend gave me a T-shirt and slippers at parting, hoping THAT I should be like a Cantonese rent collector.
I quit naked. I quit my job without finding another one.
In the past, I could not accept naked resignation. It was too risky to resign before I found another job.
Naked resignation is mainly I want to have a long period of time, these two years can be regarded as diligent work, diligent writing public account, can be regarded as a small holiday for myself. The rest of the time can be a good summary of the past two years, before starting again.
As for the future, I will find a job in Guangzhou (a less busy company) and try my best to write public accounts to export more of my technical ideas and opinions. If I read my article, I will be very happy if I can help some people unintentionally.
