The story of message queues began in 1983 when Vivek Ranadive, a Mumbai-based engineer working at MIT, dreamed up the concept of a software bus. Over the next four decades, the saga of message queues continued. The AMQP standard was born, and its cross-language and cross-platform characteristics make it the standard message-oriented middleware technology widely used in the industry. Message queue projects such as RabbitMQ, Kafka and RocketMQ continue to emerge and play an important role in different technology scenarios.
Looking back at the history of message queues, it is a great honor to witness the tremendous impact that message queues have had on the computing and Internet world. It has participated in the value remodeling of industry and society by technological development and accelerated the process of digital transformation of global enterprises.
Apache RocketMQ, as one of the protagonists, also plays an important and valuable role in this evolving story. Apache RocketMQ has provided services to over tens of thousands of companies around the world, including not only leading Internet companies such as Bytedance, Kuaishou, Xiaomi, Didi and Elong, but also numerous financial companies such as banks, securities brokers, insurance companies and fund companies. As an important open source project in China, in order to help more enterprises, developers, open source contributors to understand Apache RocketMQ, and join in, promote the prosperity and development of Apache RocketMQ and its open source ecosystem.
