Since 2.0.8.0, Tdengine has officially launched the “Update” function, and still maintains the style of Tdengine, simple and efficient, when creating a database, only need to configure a parameter, can support the subsequent update operation when writing data to the table.

By August 3, 2020, the biggest feedback from the community was that TDengine was super strong, it was much, much faster than Hadoop, and it was easy to install and deploy, but we needed clustering, we needed high reliability, and we needed a solution for dealing with large amounts of data.

Clustering is rigid and a real pain point. In 2020, the development team of Tdengine, sacrificing all their weekends, launched Tdengine 2.0, the clustering function completely open source.

Since the cluster opened source, Tdengine has added more than 260,000 new user instances in 4 months, and the WeChat group of 3000 people has become 6000 people after the launch of the cluster function.

Then comes the new feedback: “Can TDengine do anything to update data?” “If some of the historical data reported by the instrument is inaccurate, does TDengine support the update operation?” “How do we deal with the existence of dirty data when our application is interrupted in acquisition or communication?”

Previously, we took into account that TDEngine works with temporal data, which is not allowed to be modified in quite a few scenarios, so in the initial design, we did not support updating the data. However, after listening to a lot of user feedback, we realized that for normal timing data, updating is not necessary, but for some dirty data, it makes sense to support updating.

Since the 2.0.8.0 release, Tdengine has officially launched the “Update” function, and still maintains the style of Tdengine, simple and efficient, when creating a database, only need to configure a parameter, can support the subsequent update operation to write data to the table. Those who need this function can download the installation package from the official website of Tdengine, or download the source code compilation and run in the github repository to experience and test.

Thanks to open source, we get feedback from our users very quickly. GitHub gets a lot of feedback from developers every day, ranging from bugs to features to performance, and the number of issues is close to 5000. This shows that a lot of developers really use our product, love our product, we find the right market, our product is valuable.

If you have other features you need, please leave a message or submit a feature request on GitHub. The higher your request, the higher your priority will be

Of course, from the community to the community, we also hope that more students and enthusiasts can become the contributors of TDengine, so that the “Hot Wheel” at the foot of TDengine can fly fast!
