Superset 0.37, added visual plug-in, row level permission control

Superset has been around for a while and its good experience with rich charting features has saved a lot of time. However, there is no good support for permissions, custom charts, chart downloads and alarm emails. Most companies still need a lot of secondary development to realize these functions, which is time-consuming and laborious.

Superset 0.37 was released recently, and it’s amazing to see how many new features we’ve been waiting for, and how much we’re excited about the future of Superset.

Here are some of the major updates

It’s been more than four months since the release of Superset 0.36, but Superset activity has not abated at all, with GitHub’s Star breaking 30K and Superset becoming the platform of choice for data visualization.

Visual plug-in

The Superset visual code has been refactored in 0.37 so that developers can now reference the charting API to build their own visual plug-ins without having to redevelop the code.

In addition to other minor improvements and bug fixes to existing chart types such as Pivottables, pie charts, and filter boxes, this new architecture enables users to do more with their data.

You can now create custom visualization plug-ins on Superset using any of the available javascripts based data visualization libraries, such as ECharts, AntV, HighCharts, VX, and D3.

Row-level permission control

Building a new visualization plug-in is obviously cool, but for any data visualization application to be enterprise-level, it has to be rock-solid in terms of security. Version 0.37 takes significant steps in this direction and improves row-level security.

Superset can now have multiple table row-level security filters instead of just one table filter.

We believe Superset will give us more surprises in data security in the future.
