The “SwatchMate Cube” was definitely one of the smart devices that came out in 2014 that blew my mind. As a portable color detection device, it can capture colors from any object surface, helping users to capture these colors easily.

If the Cube is right, designers will be able to capture all kinds of amazing colors in nature. So it became one of the devices I wanted to get my hands on this year. Cube is not available yet, so it’s obviously not the main character I’m going to introduce today. Today I want to introduce you to a color absorption tool called Sip.

When it comes to Sip, I believe many designers are familiar with it. It arrived on the Mac OS two years ago and has become a favorite color absorber for many designers. Just yesterday, they released Sip Color for iOS.

Sip Color, like the aforementioned Cube, can help you get some Color inspiration from nature. Sip Color is much simpler, with smart analytics to give you a palette of colors in your photo. When it comes to color swatches, this is probably what designers want most.

Opening the app ‘Sip Color’ will prompt you to set the screen brightness to maximum brightness to get the best Color results. It is recommended to click on the left side of the display, otherwise you will see this prompt every time you open it.

Click the Add button to enter the color. Sip Color analyzes the colors in your photo and gives you a complete palette. In fact, those good street photos are analyzed to be a great set of color swatches. Designers don’t have to worry about projects anymore.

Of course, you can also take the color directly through the viewfinder. Click on the left and right sides of the bottom color block to add or subtract the color block. Maximum 8 colors, minimum 2 colors.

The stored palette can also be shared with others via email, with Settings already marked and used directly.

If you don’t like one of the colors, you can just tap to edit it. Save back to palette after adjustment.

Since “Sip for Mac” already has many users, the synchronization function must not be less. An account created by early Creation can be synchronized using cloud storage. To do that, you’ll need to upgrade to Pro for $9.99.

The first time I saw “Sip Color”, I thought I must introduce it to the designers in the team. It takes a lot of time to look for a color match for the campaign. In fact, the beauty walking in the street, the leaves on the Yang Gong Dike, the shop window, the posters in the subway… Could give you a unique palette. Take it back with Sip Color.

Sip Color is free, but to sync the palette directly to the Mac, you need to buy it for $9.99. However, if you don’t have a strong need, sharing via mobile will be sufficient.
