RocketMQ has been open source, commercial, and in-house for a decade, with kernel evolution and feature iteration working in tandem. The core links such as transaction support within the group perfectly passed the traffic peak of all the Singles’ Day, setting a record of more than 2 trillion messages. In business, RocketMQ serves more than 10,000 corporate customers in the Internet, finance, government and enterprise industries. In open source, the community has always maintained a high level of participation, with a large scale of active domestic exchange group, and the ISSUE has collected a large number of high-quality topic exchanges and problem precipitation from all over the world.
RocketMQ’s release of version 5.0, five years after its release of version 4.0 in 2017, marks RocketMQ’s transition from a single messaging scenario to a broader integration of events, messages, and flows. As a major update five years after the release of version 4.0 in 2017, version 5.0 is a massive redesign of the architecture, with over 60% new and modified code and seamless compatibility with all features and the overall architecture of version 4.0 without introducing any external dependencies.
The new RocketMQ version 5.0 insists on scenarios diversity and extreme flexibility of service capabilities, providing a detacheable architecture for multiple scenarios; In the Streaming and Eventing arena of a new layout, RocketMQ has fully developed its upstream and downstream integration capabilities and adopted a development-compatible approach to the existing open source ecosystem. For example, with Flink integration, RocketMQ directly implements Flink’s basic functions, operators, and is the first to be compatible with the Flink/Blink SQL standard and WITH UDF/UDAF/UDTF.
Along the way, Alibaba constantly draws nutrition from open source, and continues to contribute to open source.
