2 Lonworks fieldbus technology

2.1 FieldBus

Fieldbus is a kind of open, digital and multipoint communication control network, which is based on network control and applied to realize bidirectional serial multi-byte digital communication between microcomputer measurement and control equipment. It is oriented to production control equipment and adopts short frame mode to transmit data. The network rate is usually up to several K ~ 10Mbps and has good real-time performance. Fieldbus technology provides an effective way to construct network integrated distributed control system.

Compared with distributed control, fieldbus technology has the advantages of openness, network information sharing, intelligence, highly decentralized, functional autonomy and high reliability, etc., which can greatly save the number of hardware and investment, and is easy to install, expand and maintain. At present, the field bus technology mainly includes foundationfield-bus, PROFIBUS (DP, PA, FMS), CAN, Lonworks, industrial Ethernet and so on. Each bus has different characteristics in network protocol, transmission rate and distance, application occasions and site number limitation.

2.2 Lonworks technology

Lonworks (LocalOperatingNetworks) fieldbus technology is an advanced open network control technology launched by Echelon company www.cechina.cn. Its structure is simple, wiring is easy, and it is easy to expand capacity and add new functions. For different functional requirements of users, just choose different control nodes, use its development platform, write the corresponding program, connect to the control network can be completed, there is no need to make any modification to the network structure physically. Lonworks is the most widely used field bus technology in distributed monitoring system such as production site and intelligent building.

Lonworks supports a wide range of transmission media and network topology, up to 78kbps/2700m when using a transformer-coupled interface FTT-10 transceiver and a twisted-pair bus structure, and extended transmission distance through a relay router. The Lonworks network can have up to 64 nodes and can be extended by bridging routers. With the support of hardware such as neuron chip and network, the data of each smart node is connected in the form of network variables, and each node can set up a maximum of 62 network variables. Data structures defined according to Lonworks standard network variables can solve interoperability problems with products from different manufacturers.
