Lately I’ve been trying to be the kind of person who doesn’t care what anyone says about me, except good friends.

I tend to take what others think of me too seriously. But there was a time when I did a good job of calling and warning myself not to get into any arguments on the Internet. But since more and more people have been following me, I have started to care too.

A person who will not lose his temper, slowly began to have their own small mood, but fortunately, there are always a group of people around me to remind me to look at everything. So from be called “net red foolish” beginning, I also did not take it seriously, because I know oneself a few jin a few two.

In retrospect, I always said that I lacked friends. It was only after I grew up that I realized the meaning of the word “friend”. Friends don’t need to be in constant contact, as long as they reach out to protect you when you need help, it is enough.

I’ve been unfriended by people I’ve helped and misunderstood because of the way I’ve acted. True to the original intention, I told myself not to think too much, reading and code words always make me calm.

This article was inspired by a good friend @c7210. After watching the way he answered the questioner’s questions, I was deeply impressed. I often receive some questions from my friends, but I don’t reply to most of them, except for some worthy of discussion, I will answer them carefully. So I wanted to put out those good questions, not to one person, but to do a discussion with everyone.

Q: Silly, how do you think a designer should approach product design?

It’s too big a question to open up. I suspect the other person might want to know, “What’s the point of being an interaction or UI designer and having a voice and a role in the process?”

After discussing with the other party and confirming it, I started my solution.

What is the job?

I often feel glad that I have a sense of diligence that is different from ordinary people. Although hard work does not mean that I can get harvest, it is the only way that I can improve my ability to compete with others by improving my horizon and experience and reading books constantly.

Therefore, IN this process, I learned UI design, in order to communicate with UI colleagues more sympathetic, so I won the honor of “2016 UI China Annual Excellent Designer”, I may be the only interaction designer. I also tried to improve my product thinking. In order to think from a higher perspective, I became the columnist of “Everyone is a Product Manager” in less than three months.

These things slowly made work more interesting for me, because I never felt like I was interacting because I was interested.

When I had a wider range of contacts, I realized that design is supposed to be like this — looking at every need and problem from a higher and broader perspective.

It’s often said that “UI designers are all about coloring prototypes”. I never agree with this view, no matter what the context and perspective, UI is more than just visual. So when a friend says something like “I don’t know, because I’m just UI” in an interview, I think the other person is too closed minded.

As a designer, it’s not just about getting down to the product level, it’s about getting down to the pixels.

A senior once criticized me: “Don’t think you are serious when you do things. Details can determine success or failure, and attitude can also determine everything. During that time, I grew up a lot. Not only my work attitude, but also my way of doing things changed.

Goals are the first step

From an early age, teachers ask, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” We’re taught this early, but few of us seem to care: the law of goals.

I talked about this in my last post, about “product goals.” Do design to find the design goal; Capture the user to find the user target.

Whether it is interaction or UI, you should pay more attention to give yourself a chance to practice and participate in the product design work from the early stage. Analyze product requirements and disassemble user scenarios. To be specific, we all know, as long as the practitioners also know what to do. And friend must also have this problem because no position yourself in the role of the team, this is a lot of people will be problems, because of just a few days ago WeChat group of an interactive friend also say in this matter, she said: “the interaction designer draw a prototype, develop students don’t go to see, so drew no use”.

To summarize, this is a cognitive error, which is the result of interaction with prototypes and continuous discussions and collisions with relevant personnel after participating in work at the early stage. It’s not so much about the documentation, it’s more about the process, the process of how to draw the prototype, rather than what to draw the prototype for.

As for the finer stuff, I won’t go into that, but the last article said a lot about product goals.

Besides the design

Interestingly, the first thing THAT came to my mind when I saw this problem was not how to do product design, but how to think about the problem.

I switched the Angle: “As a chef, how do you make delicious food?” And that makes sense, because it makes it seem like the questions are always the same, and the answers are always there. It’s not that people don’t see the answers, it’s that they’re so focused on what they’re doing that sometimes they step out and see what’s so amazing about the world.

Before, a friend asked me about my career plan for the next five years. I said that five years is too little time. If I only plan what I have been doing for the next five years, IT will be difficult for me to grow up. To put it more nobly, I made it my life’s work; Put simply, I think I’ll live on it my whole life.

It was because I learned how interesting interaction was and saw the nature of it that I knew I had so much to learn and work on.

I couldn’t stop for a second.

END.
