So just how popular is Li Qi on YouTube? Which countries are attracting fans? What do foreigners generally think of Li Qi’s short video? Is Li Qi a cultural export?

To answer this question, we collected data from 69,970 comments and 63,768 comments on the top three videos on the “Liziqi Liziqi” YouTube channel to see Liziqi in the eyes of a foreigner.

Who is Li Qi?

Li Qi, a post-90s girl from Mianyang, Sichuan Province, has become an Internet sensation since 2016 for her idyllic photos of ancient rural life. She now has 21.54 million followers on Her Weibo account, becoming a veritable big V.

On the other hand, li Qi’s YouTube channel “Li Qi Liziqi” has accumulated about 980 million views and gained 7.63 million subscribers since August 24, 2017. With everyone talking about Plum, did she become a YouTube sensation recently?

We took the views of all 101 short videos on the YouTube channel “Ziziqi” and plotted the data according to when the short videos were posted.

Since the first short video, almost every video posted on YouTube’s “Plum Seven Liziqi” channel has received a good number of views, with an average of 9.67 million views per short video, 10.5 times the average views per short video on Bilibili (according to our statistics, With an average of 920,000 views per short video on Bilibili, Li’s videos are proving popular and influential on YouTube.

In addition, it can be seen that the most popular video of “Ziqi Liziqi” has reached more than 40 million views. The two videos with the highest views were released on October 9, 2018 and January 31, 2019 respectively. Although the views are accumulated over time, it can also be seen that, Li Ziqi has long been a YouTube sensation, not a recent one.

2. How did Li Qi’s video get a response on YouTube?

Also in the domestic is also very hot Plum Qi, we put forward a lot of negative questions to her. So how has Li’s video been received on YouTube? Do foreigners like her videos or make fun of her? We calculated the number of 👍(likes) and 👎(dislikes) of all 101 short videos posted on YouTube by Liziqi’s “channel”.

With 101 videos, Li qi has received 16,557,252 likes and 369,971 dislikes, a ratio of 45 to 1. This shows that most foreigners like Li Qi’s videos, and only a very small number of foreigners dislike them.

In fact, the Emoji used in the comments on the video can more accurately convey the various attitudes of foreign netizens towards Li Qi’s short video. To do this, we counted the Emoji that appeared in 69,970 video comments.

It can be seen that in the data of 69,970 video comments, the 10 most frequent emojis are almost all positive emojis, including “thumbs up”, “heart comparison”, “applause” and “rose offering”. This also indirectly shows that the vast majority of foreigners for Li Qi’s short video response is positive and positive, and there is no domestic like li Qi’s various doubts.

3. Which countries are people who like plum sex?

Of the 7.63 million subscribers who like Li’s videos, are the majority Chinese outside China? Or is it mostly foreigners? Are there more fans from Countries influenced by Chinese culture, such as Japan, South Korea and Vietnam? Or are there more fans from western countries?

We took personal channel data from 63,768 reviewers,Of those, 4,301 had marked their country/region. We projected the number of commenters per country on the map (the darker the color, the more fans from that country).

The top 10 countries by number of commenters areUnited States (843), India (383), Vietnam (356), Indonesia (314), Russia (256), Brazil (204), The United Kingdom (110), South Korea (107), the Philippines (104) and Canada (99), with 4,301 commenters from 136 different countries/regions. In other words,Li qi’s short video has successfully broken out of the Confucian cultural circle and gained acceptance, attention and love from people all over the world.

As you can see in the comments section of Li ziqi’s YouTube videos, the comments are made up of many different languages.The language of the comments can also be inferred from the source of Li Qi’s fans.To do this, we counted the languages of the 69,970 comments, and the top 10 most spoken languages are

English ranked first, accounting for more than half of the total.Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian and Spanish rank second to fifth, while Japanese, Portuguese and Arabic are among more than 90 languages. As you can see,Foreigners make up the majority of Her YouTube followers, and her videos break through language barriers and appeal to fans from different cultures.

What makes foreigners like her videos so much?

We took 37,475 English comments out of 69,970 comments, counted the frequency of each word in the comments, and made them into a word cloud (the larger the type, the more frequently the word appeared in the comments).

To sum up, there are roughly three points:One is li’s personal charm in the video. Second, the hands-on ability from scratch is impressive; Third, modern people, whose way of life has been greatly changed by industrialization, yearn for the simple and quiet life of ancient idyllic style.
