# # introduction

Hello, I’m the light source. The last article, “Programmers on the job search series of the right posture for internal push” was originally improvised in my spare time, the results of the response to various platforms, which surprised me.

I’m ashamed of myself. I just do a little work. If I can help you, it’s my pleasure.

Some of the replies, comments and messages are to express gratitude, some are to communicate, some are to ask questions, some are to run for “welfare”, and some even hope that I can give them some personal guidance.

All of this scares me.

I am just an Internet soldier who works a little harder or luckier than you. I know that my qualifications are far from “guiding the way of life”. What I can do is to share my thoughts on job hunting and career with you.

So, at some point, I was actually prepared to stop writing about this topic. It would be nice to be a tech blogger. I was afraid that I might mislead others with my shallow opinions.

However, after seeing the constant stream of comments and messages on various platforms, I feel it is my duty to clarify some issues since I have started.

Hence, this article.

First, confession is the final victory of the horn, rather than the launch of the attack of the bugle, push inward as well

Confession is a call to final victory, not a call to attack

This sentence is a famous sentence, I don’t know if you have heard. I personally couldn’t agree more with this statement.

And the extrapolation is the same thing.

The time to do it is when you have at least an 80% chance of getting the job. Instead of trying to internalize BAT when your resume can’t even pass a mediocre screening.

I say this not in any way to mock anyone, but in the hope that my readers will keep their feet on the ground.

Extrapolation also has a cost

Don’t think of internalizing as an extra, no-frill, no-cost, freewheeling opportunity. It has a cost, too.

For one thing, it takes up your own time, the time of the person who pushed you in, and the time of the person who reviewed your resume — yes, there is a resume screening process, and even if the person who pushed you in doesn’t say a word, the resume still ends up in the hands of HR or the head of the department. If your resume goes common flow so, pass nevertheless, go inside push also same xuan.

On the other hand, you cost the trust of the person who pushed you inwards. A primary development can not reach the resume to push XX company, which obviously gives a person a impetuous, speculative image.

So when you decide to push in, make sure you’re prepared.

Extrapolation is not as important as you think

A lot of friends put too much importance on introtweeting, saying, “I wish I had seen your article earlier.”

I have to say, however, that inward-pushing may not save you.

I remember someone asked me in a private letter, are you familiar with the XX position in the department? Could you help me ask what the interview will be about?

This is the typical “human touch” approach to HIRING in the IT industry.

Introversion, on the other hand, tends to be most easily associated with “favors” and “shortcuts”.

It’s too easy to be mythologized about the power of internal pushing, as if it’s easy to get over it.

So is extrapolation really that good?

Don’t.

The advantages of extrapolation over other recruitment approaches are:

  • The number of people is relatively small compared to the normal way of sending resumes, so there is relatively little competition.
  • The recruitment process is relatively fast compared to the normal way of sending resumes.
  • In the extrapolation process, resumes are less likely to be missed due to human error.
  • If be the society moves, that inside push the resume that has the opportunity to let you direct in the hand of corresponding branch chief.
  • Intweets can help you see the hiring progress and even hasten it.

At first glance, the benefits of extrapolation are many, right?

What it really boils down to is that extrapolation can help people who already have the ability to get hired quickly and safely.

The only difference between pushing and recruiting is the source of the resume.

Because push-in resumes come from employees, the extra time and thought that recruiters give to push-in resumes is a bonus — it’s a bonus, not a loosening of standards. Even some school recruitment internal push even the written test has been retained, that is not much different from ordinary recruitment.

So you know, for most people, you don’t need to extrapolate.

There are pearls left in the sea, but very few. There are very few masters may be very sad resume because of the relationship between school/education or work experience, this time to try to push, is correct.

So before you go looking for an inward push, think: Do you really need an inward push?

Two, feel underappreciated? Maybe you have yourself to blame

Many friends asked me in private letters, do you think I can enter XX company like this?

That really beats me.

How difficult it is to judge the level of others. For a company, it still needs to prepare resume screening, written test, multiple rounds of interviews, HR interviews, probation and many other procedures to judge a person, but now I have to make a judgment based on a few words of self-introduction… I can answer that. Can you believe it?

All right, back to business.

The job search process is a process of expressing yourself and showing yourself. You’re on the receiving end of the process, and the company is on the receiving end. You know who you are, but the company doesn’t. You think you’re underappreciated, but the company doesn’t know either.

We are now trying to look at it from the perspective of the employer:

  1. In the resume screening process, you are just a resume. Only a few key pieces of information describe you on a resume: school, work/internship, projects, other awards or accomplishments — very little, right? With so little content and so many competitors, it’s understandable that recruiters may pass on some applicants for school or experience reasons. Will talent be missed out? Yes, but for the company, there is a high probability that it can get other talent, there is no shortage of someone.
  2. In the written test, you are just one paper. No matter how good you are, finally reflect your level is a paper. Think it’s unfair? Think about the gaokao, it’s the same thing. The pen test is a reflection of the company’s recruitment objectives, if you can’t, or you are not ready; Either this company isn’t right for you.
  3. At the interview stage, you are a communicator. How to meet recruit in a short period of time, express themselves, this is the problem we all need to think about. I won’t go into that.

So now look back, how many people fell to their knees at the first step?

Some people are resumes are not well prepared, clearly very interesting, the results of the resume is always ignored.

Some people have bad information on their resume, mediocre school, lack of work experience and so on. How to do? Efforts to bai. Everyone’s external presentation is multi-dimensional. The school can make efforts to enrich internship and project experience. You don’t have much internship experience but you can try to compete and so on.

There is a frequent question, does XX company care about school/degree? I think a better answer is that it depends on whether your abilities are really limited to your school/degree.

Three, looking for a job, the focus is “looking for”

Look again at the question above, “Do you think I can get into XX like this?” I told you I can’t judge.

However, when it comes to methods, there really is a practical way to try.

You can’t know what level you’re at until you try. You won’t know how close you are until you try. Only by trying can you understand the pitfalls and tricks of job hunting.

Here’s what I did to find an internship:

  1. Offer to buy all the companies you like, all the famous companies, all the rich (well, that’s so cheesy, ha ha) companies.
  2. After you get rid of the companies that don’t fit, there are probably a dozen or twenty more. Collect recruitment information from the company’s list. If you can send a resume first, send it. If you can’t send a resume, record the date of its recruitment.
  3. Keep interviewing. Take notes of the questions you are asked during each interview.

At that time is the second semester of the third year, on the one hand to have a class (monitor points, ya of I is that monitor), on the one hand to take an examination of driving license, on the one hand to constantly interview (behind are quick face vomit have). To be honest, it is.

However, I think this is a “stupid method”. Instead of watching from a distance, jump in and see how deep it is. What is your level after all, I guess you can’t accurately judge yourself, right? Other people’s judgment is always inaccurate, this matter is like a pony crossing the river.

Then, after repeated interviews, I got a sense of what the interview routine was. Soon, I got an internship offer from a Shanghai company. I still remember that company is a good company that makes business card Almighty King APP. After that, I got the offer from several companies, and finally got the offer from the company I like — NetEase. (When I got the offer, I was in class. I excitedly told my roommate that I got the offer from NetEase, and he shouted out, “Oh my God!”) .

It should be noted that most of my friends do not have to send as many companies as I do — now I look back and think it is too exhausting. If you are fully prepared, then only prepare for the company you want to go to.

The main reason I’m sharing this story here is to encourage you to “go for it.”

In many personal messages, there are a lot of seniors who missed the autumn enrollment (I remember maybe three or four), every time I see this situation, I think it is too pity. Then the next is the spring recruitment, I hope you can take the initiative to grasp the opportunity (some pit in the school recruitment limited to the length of the next article to write, as for when to write. It depends on the mood.

Feeling hopeless? Maybe you set your sights too high

First-tier companies, such as BAT, are so brilliant that everyone wants to join them (a few people look down on FLAG or go to FLAG, which is certainly not within the scope of discussion), but the competition is really cruel.

So for the vast majority of people, I suggest, keep your feet on the ground.

Here’s a simple breakdown of the company into several layers. If your ability is at the third level, then get the offer of the third level company as a guarantee, and then strive for the second level of the company, this is a smart approach.

If the third level of competence is forced on the first level of the company, then failure is normal.

Why is there a guaranteed offer? Remember, you’re looking for a job, and you need to live on it. Look up at the stars and keep your feet on the ground.

A few days ago I met a friend, senior, missed the autumn recruit. I looked at his resume and found that his ability (the ability here is just a guess after looking at the resume) is still far from the first-tier company, but it is ok. It is not a problem to get an ordinary offer.

When I checked, he didn’t have any offer at present. Curious, I asked him why. ‘Ordinary companies don’t want to go,’ he says.

It must be said that the best companies in the market are at every level, except for the top few companies, the middle and upper middle level companies are also very good. Don’t assume there are only “very good” and “very bad” companies.

Afterword.

In fact, this article has already been written, but it is not satisfied with it. It has been revised continuously until today.

I don’t really like to write this kind of article, because it’s kind of subjective, and it might work for me but it doesn’t work for everyone. But these days because of the last article “Programmers on the job search series to push the right posture”, I have received a lot of private messages, also found some problems, so I still take the time to write.

Just have a look. If you have any questions, please feel free to talk.

In addition, many friends will trust me to communicate with me about their current situation and hope THAT I can give some advice. After much thought, I still think these questions will not be answered in the future. On the one hand, I am afraid of making mistakes. On the other hand, MY time is very tight and I have no time to spend. What I can share, as well as some of the problems FOUND, will try to write in the form of articles that can benefit everyone in the public account.

I hope your resume is attractive enough to me. (Some people say that I would rather find someone else to help me with internal promotion. Yes, that is exactly what I want.)

In addition, as a reminder, you can read “NetEase Recruitment”, “Tencent recruitment” and so on to master the first-hand recruitment information.
