Today is programmer’s Day, while the new version has just launched cold launch. Share some stories of collaboration between product managers and programmers. Take community products as an example.



Community is a product that takes time. Both content accumulation and product operation strategy require product managers and operation to work together to create a community atmosphere with continuous content through continuous iteration.


As a community product manager and entrepreneur, I think community products, or modules, are the essence of Internet thinking. Because it’s hard to see a product that has to run a business that is so closely linked to the product


Neither new retail nor tools Internet companies are as user-driven as community product companies, because that’s the community of people. This also leads to many products having a community module, even if it is not intended to be a community.


But as product managers, we need to make sure that the product continues to iterate and live. Enterprise revenue was a prerequisite, so we made some mistakes when PMTalk went live.


For the enterprise, a product manager without regard to business value is a rogue.

In August 2019, I talked with a product manager of Ali P10 about the commercial value of product managers in Hangzhou. We all mentioned that a product manager should help the enterprise to do business transformation, not feature product manager.


Focus on user experience and feature prototyping, forgetting that the cornerstone of requirements is business.

Programmers need a “commercial” product manager


The commercialization of a product actually brings the realization and income of the product.


The commercialization of products is also the essence of the team. We often encounter the following scenario


  • After the product prototype comes out, it enters the development process, and the program changes direction suddenly in the middle of development.


  • When the product was launched, it was iterated and reconstructed directly in less than a month.


  • During product development, unclear requirements lead to development errors


  • During product development, the design boss was not satisfied and changed it

It can be seen that the research and development process of a product is painful, so an Internet research and development team is very expecting results. Commercialization is the best proof that the needs of product managers are the source of all work. Regardless of your boss’s abstract business and direction, at least your needs are real work for everyone.



The new version may not bring in the good new UVs and new paying customers that the team is looking forward to. After all, the value of all work is to create value




The commercial version doesn’t just leave more paid entry


Many product managers are still stuck at a paid entry point in their perception of commercialization. As long as the entrance of advertising, recharge entrance to stay enough, the proportion of users pay will be increased.


But in reality, the user’s consumption needs to be scenario-based.


Scenarios give users a reason and motivation to buy, like going to a restaurant when they’re hungry.


Scenario-based paid design is the foundation of commercialization. Instead of dwelling too much on the entrance design.
