The demand sources of product managers vary slightly from job to job and from direction to direction. Whether it is mobile terminal product manager, background product manager or even data product manager, business requirements are the basic product design rules that every product manager should abide by. Products without business cannot solve user needs and are useless products.
A conversation to explore needs
I don’t know if you have a similar scenario
Salesman A: “We are going to launch A new service. Can you provide us with tools to manage merchants and customers for this service?”
Product Manager: “Why do you need this tool? “
Salesman B: “I will sort out the feedback problems of customers and make statistics. Feedback to the corresponding merchants, let the merchants know what types of problems the customers feedback, give the best feedback to the merchants.”
Product Manager: “What types of data do you need to collect? Will the collected data still need to be processed manually? “
Salesman A: “What we collect are users’ pictures, texts and voice messages. We select the useful feedback and give it to businesses in A concentrated way to help businesses get the most accurate feedback, and finally users can get A better experience.”
Product manager: “So how do you manage these pictures, text and other data content?”
Salesman B: “We use Excel for management now, and we hope to manage it on the system.”
Product Manager: “Have you started service yet? How much content to collect every day”
Salesman A: “We haven’t started service yet, but we hope to have this system.”
Product Manager: “……….”
Product manager: “Maybe you can use two wechat groups to solve this problem, one is to collect customers’ opinions and the other is to push merchants’ opinions.”
Salesman A, Salesman B: “It seems so”
The appeal scenario is a process of demand mining
Demand is disassembled in this way, and it is clear that the final business personnel can be managed through two wechat groups. And considering the unstable cycle after the launch of the product, at least the efficiency of wechat group is also very high.
Essential elements beyond requirements
Through the appeal process, the product people can know what the needs of the business people are, and what kind of product design scheme we should provide can meet the needs of the business people.
Demand to the landing, but also need time and resources two factors. There is no demand for resources, and there is no demand for time.
After receiving the demand, we need to know the business demand time required by the other party, and then arrange the time when we go online.
The same is true for resources, such as the appeal scenario where you want to do a Web product. There is no resource preemption on the client side. The required resources are design, backend, and front-end resources.
The complex design sketch above is intended to highlight if this requirement requires a large amount of design resources. The front-end or designer’s workload and time will get longer. The time to launch the overall product is getting lower and lower
The time of the overall launch is sometimes not given by business people. When the product goes from 0 to 1, there are no operational requirements or activity requirements, and there is no overall time planning. Therefore, we rarely work overtime at this time. After all, there is no need to repeatedly launch products.
