It is the first time Wuhan has published a white paper on the development of the software and information technology service industry.
In 2020, the revenue of software business will exceed 160 billion yuan
Since its establishment in 1988, the software and information service industry of East Lake High-tech Zone has been relying on outstanding advantages of talents, universities and leading enterprises, focusing on key fields such as operating system, information security and information consumption, and has embarked on a road of industrial development with unique characteristics of the Optical Valley. Since the “12th Five-Year Plan”, the high-tech software and information service industry of Donghu has made great progress. The income of software and information service industry has reached 143 billion yuan in 2017 from 35 billion yuan in 2011, and reached 160 billion yuan in 2020, accounting for more than 70% of the province’s income and nearly 80% of Wuhan’s software business income. It has become an important driving force for the economic growth of East Lake High-tech Zone and even the whole province.

White paper, according to data by the end of 2020, east lake high-tech zone gathered more than 1700 enterprises above designated size, earning $443, 300 rules on software and information technology service enterprises, formed the Internet + based software, earth spatial information, and industrial software, information security, and other areas of the several big characteristic, and to enhance innovation strength, China Xinke, Tianyu Information, Fiberhome Communications, Ligang Power, Baijun Cheng, Fiberhome Communications, Chinese Academy of Posts and other enterprises entered the list of “China’s top 100 software and information technology service industry comprehensive competitiveness” enterprises; Qimi Network, Shengtian Network, Douyu Network and Wuyi Yuntong were rated as “Top 100 Internet Companies in China”. Wudagio, Zhongdi Digital, Guangting Information, Leadspace, Optics Valley Information and Luojia Deyi have been rated as “Top 100 Geographical Information Industries in China” for many years. Wuhan University excellent science and technology, open eye information and other 12 software enterprises were evaluated as “Hubei pillar industry segmentation field invisible champion.”
Since the beginning of 2020, a total of 39 software enterprises in the East Lake High-tech Zone have obtained financing. According to the statistics of the amount disclosed to the outside world, the financing amount exceeds 3 billion yuan.
Cultivate China’s only global top 10 operating system
According to the white paper, the East Lake High-tech Zone is home to representative basic software companies with a total value of about 5 billion yuan, and has cultivated two leading companies, Tongxin and Dameng, in the fields of operating system and database. In terms of operating systems, Deepin, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UniXin Software, is the only operating system in China ranked among the top 10 open source systems in the world, and the highest ranked distributed operating system from China at present.

In addition, the embedded software of enterprises in the fields of optical communication, mobile communication, CNC machine tools, laser processing and other fields occupies more than 30% of the national market share. The embedded system software income is comparable to that of Shanghai, and the industrial software market scale is about 10 billion yuan.
In the field of geospatial information, it has formed a batch of high-end products with independent intellectual property rights, led by 26 leading enterprises such as Zhongdi Digital, Wudagio, Yixun Beidou, etc., occupying more than 50% of the domestic market share. In 2020, the scale of geospatial information industry in the zone will reach about 20 billion yuan. As the main brand enterprises of GIS platform software in the domestic market, China Digital Land and Wudagio occupy about 15% of the domestic market share. Among them, China Digital Land currently has an annual revenue of 270 million yuan, and is one of the two enterprises with the largest market share of China’s GIS platform.
In terms of Internet + industry, there are more than 2,700 “Internet +” enterprises in East Lake High-tech Zone, with more than 80 well-known Internet “second headquarters” including Xiaomi, iFlytek, Qihoo 360, Xiaohongshu, Bytedance and so on.
Create a growth pole for the development of the software industry in central China
According to the white paper, three core innovation carriers — Optoelectronics Information Park (hereinafter referred to as Optoelectronics Park), Future Science and Technology City and Huashan Software New City — have their own advantages. Among them, Optoelectronic Park is the core carrier of China’s first national optoelectronic information industry base, the birthplace of China’s incubator business, and the first “100 billion yuan” industrial park in East Lake High-tech Zone.
According to incomplete statistics, by 2019, there were about 220 software parks of various types in China, with a business income of 5.4 trillion yuan. There are 14 software parks in China with a revenue of 100 billion yuan. Wuhan Optical Valley Software Park has a revenue of 182.8 billion yuan, including more than 50 billion yuan from software business. It is the growth pole of the software industry in central China.
