For a long time, many users are very fond of using the long screenshot function for page screenshots, it can be said that this is a more practical function in daily applications.

At present, the mainstream of xiaomi MIUI, Huawei EMUI, Samsung OneUI and other third-party Android customized UI have supported this function.

Surprisingly, there is no support for this feature on native Android, which is widely used.

Despite Android’s promise of such a feature, and some early indications that the technology will actually work, it may not appear in Android 11 this year.

After last year’s Google I/O, it was rumored that Google was preparing to offer scrolling screenshot support to native Android in the “R” release.

As you can see in early developer previews, the “Extend” option appears after a screenshot. Although clicking on this option shows “Not Implemented! But it also proves that the Android team has a plan for it.

However, during a recent AMA event, Dan Sandler, an engineer on the Android development team, confirmed that the final version of Android 11 will not support scrolling screenshots.

As for the lack of support this time around, Dan Sandler explained that it’s part of continuing to improve the feature, and that Google wants to make scrolling screenshots work across the entire Android system, not just for an app or some devices. But that wasn’t done in time, and the Android 11 team has limited resources due to the current situation.

But that doesn’t mean Google is giving up on the feature. From what we’ve heard so far, Google should continue to work on this technology in the future, and hopefully introduce scrolling screenshots to Android in the next version. That said, Android 12 May be the place to start.

There’s no word yet on when Android 11 will arrive. Android 11 will be released on September 8, according to a report from the Android Authority. However, the actual release date is not the one mentioned in the report. The exact date is still unknown.
