Recently, ComputerWorld interviewed Dr. Zhang Xiaolong, technical director of NetEase Cloud Infrastructure and member of NetEase Professional Technical Committee, to interpret the hot full-stack cloud computing. We have learned, in July of this year’s cloud conference, netease released ChanJiQun cloud can support 5000 physical nodes of “house” private cloud, micro service solution “canoe”, industrial intelligence platform, such as the latest products, and joint wave to launch its first cloud computing stack machine, has led to many cloud computing vendors to follow up, the whole stack cloud has become the focus of cloud computing industry this year.

Private clouds embrace “Aircraft Carrier mode”

By integrating micro services and private cloud, NetEase Cloud has put the “all-in-one machine” into aircraft carrier mode. So how is this combination model proposed and implemented? How did NetEase Cloud set sail for this aircraft carrier? In this regard, Zhang Xiaolong said, NetEase cloud recently released “Light boat” micro service, “vast” private cloud and cloud computing full stack all-in-one machine and other products, are to empower enterprises digital innovation, support enterprises to focus on its business itself and launched.

“Canoe” micro service revolves around the one-stop PaaS platform applications and services, can help users solve the application from the development, testing, and release to launch operations such as the full life cycle management, and solve the registration of the service, management, link tracking, such problems as dynamic configuration, providing easy access, easy operational service solutions. “Light Boat” mainly solves the problem of enterprise application architecture and realizes the evolution of enterprise application architecture to micro-services. It has two notable features: it is built based on open source technology stack, compatible with Spring Cloud, Dubbo and gRPC and other open source micro-service frameworks, can match various service frameworks, and service governance ability and business decoupling; Light Boat supports DevOps tool chain to achieve efficient automated operation and maintenance, which greatly improves the speed of product iteration.

Hanhai private cloud is an enterprise private cloud platform fully optimized based on OpenStack, Kubernetes and other open source standard architectures. It provides IaaS, PaaS, and CaaS services equal to those of NetEase public cloud, and can seamlessly access NetEase public cloud to enjoy its openness and resource flexibility. Hanhai mainly solves the problems of IT resources, platform universal service and EFFICIENCY of R&D/operation and maintenance required by enterprise business research and development through full-stack integration, and realizes one-stop cloud service for enterprise business. IT has three significant features: full-stack is based on mainstream open source technology, such as OpenStack, Kubernetes, etc.; A lot of optimization has been made for The Internet business, with internet-level IT capability in stability/performance/function/scale; In terms of architecture, it is consistent with the NetEase public cloud and can be continuously upgraded. In terms of user experience, it is consistent with the public cloud and can be easily combined with the public cloud to form a hybrid cloud.

Zhang said, A light boat is a light boat. On the one hand, it means that we provide easy-to-use, low-threshold solutions, and on the other hand, it also means that the use of “Light Boat” micro service can be lighter, business can run faster. The ocean is, as its name suggests, a vast ocean without extension. On the one hand, it means that we provide comprehensive solutions for enterprise cloud, on the other hand, it also means that our solutions have the characteristics of large support capacity and strong performance.”

It provides two products “Qingzhou” and “Hanhai”. NetEase Cloud’s full-stack all-in-one machine is an integrated delivery solution for landing these two products. Different from the past, the first generation of all in one, is to package the software and hardware together to solve the problem of fast delivery; Hyper-converged all-in-one machine is the integration of resources, mainly to improve resource utilization and reduce costs. Full-stack cloud computing all-in-one machine contains all cloud computing technology layers required by business architecture. It solves the problem of business research and development efficiency, so that customers only need to focus on business.

Openness represents the future of cloud computing

At the Cloud Innovation Conference, NetEase Cloud issued its own proposition: “Enterprises must consider the long-term in the process of digitization, ensure smooth evolution of the system, autonomy and control, and have a usable talent ecosystem. To meet these three requirements, cloud computing as the basis of digitization must be open. Openness represents the future of cloud computing.

Zhang Xiaolong pointed out that NetEase cloud has been the most firmly standing in the open source technology, open this road. The adoption of open source technology and open/compatible platform interface standards has accompanied the entire development of NetEase Cloud.

Zhang Xiaolong recalled, “When wE started to develop the cloud platform in 2012, when OpenStack was just open source and not yet mature, NetEase Cloud also had some disputes on the selection of internal technology: should we develop an IaaS cloud management platform by ourselves or based on OpenStack? At that time, we decided to take the road based on OpenStack open source technology. The main reason was that we believed that with the rapid development of cloud computing, there would surely be a mainstream open source cloud management platform in the open source community, which would surely attract a large number of excellent engineers to improve it quickly. If we can develop based on OpenStack open source technology, first, our cloud platform does not need to duplicate a wheel, which can reduce the basic prototype of a good cloud platform at a low cost in a short term. Second, we can use the wisdom of excellent engineers around the world to quickly improve our cloud platform; Third, our platform is also better able to recruit talented people to ensure that the maintenance and improvement of the platform will have a longer life.”

As Zhang xiaolong said, NetEase Cloud has stuck with its original choice over the years and found like-minded partners.

Join Intel to help develop digital economy

Intel and NetEase cloud, in the open source technology embrace and support investment attitude. Both sides believe that open source will greatly promote the development of cloud computing and cloud services in the future.

This is reflected in the fact that open source can gather the strength of industry elites, quickly solve basic problems at a lower cost, and then make differentiated competition in advanced capabilities. In addition, open source can promote standardization of technology and build a good ecosystem, avoiding vendor lock-in.

For a long time, NetEase Cloud and Intel have maintained a good strategic cooperative relationship.
