We are pleased to introduce you to our latest tool, Unity WebVR Assets, released through Mozilla. It is now available for free download and use in the Unity Resource store. The tool allows creators to publish or share VR works created in Unity online via a simple URL or link. These games can be viewed via any WebVR-enabled browser, such as Firefox (using Oculus Rift or HTC VIVE) and Microsoft Edge (using Windows Mixed Reality Headset).

With the release of Unity WebVR Assets, we hope to make publishing on the Web easier and improve ease of use and accessibility with Unity’s first class creation tool. This is ideal for presentations, marketing, news content, and traditional apps that are time-consuming or cumbersome for users.

Based on the standard WebVR API, it eliminates the need to rely on platform-specific software development kits and can respond to different VR configurations. This allows scaling up to different needs, including from basic tabletop based non-VR environments (for example, using first-person shooter style controls) to fully immersive VR configurations with spatial scale and motion control (for HTC VIVE, Oculus Rift and WindowsMixed Reality Headsets).

Getting started is not easy! Open Unity, launch the Asset Store and search WebVR to find the WebVR Assets package.
