UTools introduction

UTools is a minimalist, plug-in, cross-platform modern desktop software. Create a handy collection of tools with a variety of plugins.

You can quickly call out the search box by pressing the shortcut key (Alt +space by default). It is very clever, can support input, drag and drop, automatic paste and so on as input source, the corresponding plug-in is already ready, unified design style and operation mode, help you get results efficiently.

Window separation

UTools plugins come with their own UI. If you want to use a plugin for a long time, or if you want to open multiple plugins at the same time, you can press CTRL + D (Command + D on MAC) to remove the plugin from the uTools main input box. Use the plug-in as a standalone application.

Automatic identification

After you install the plug-in, uTools automatically recognizes the text format and lists the plug-in that can handle the text for you to choose from.

For example: Copy a JSON string -> call uTools(it will be automatically pasted)-> select “JSON” plug-in -> Enter to obtain the result.

Global shortcut key

UTools can help you quickly solve some small scenarios, but in some scenarios where you use it frequently, you can use the global shortcut keys properly and quickly.

First, you need to configure the global shortcut keys in “Setting”, as shown below:

Recent versions of uTools include global shortcut Settings in their Settings.

  • Set Alt+F as the global shortcut for translation. When copying a text, press Alt+F to translate the copied text directly within 5 seconds.
  • Set Alt+G as Google Global shortcut. When copying a text, press Alt+G within 5 seconds to directly open Google search in the browser.
  • Set Alt+T as the shortcut function of Taobao image recognition. When taking a screenshot or copying a picture file, press Alt+T to search taobao directly within 5 seconds.
  • Set Alt+O as the OCR global shortcut function. When taking a screenshot or copying an image file, press Alt+O to directly convert the image to text within 5 seconds.

Data synchronization

UTools is a desktop application, and the configuration and content generated by each plug-in is stored in your local database. However, you may need to use uTools on different devices at work, at home, or to prevent data loss due to system reinstallation.
