At the end of the year, Jia Yangqing, head of Alibaba open Source Technical Committee, wrote a letter to say thank you to you who love open source. In the future, we hope to work with more open source people to benefit the world with technology.

With such naive thinking, we gradually discovered that this group of people invented the best form of large-scale collaboration in the Internet age, and also created the greatest common denominator of technology. Regardless of language or skin color, the open source spirit of open sharing, equality and universal benefits has effectively made up for the technological generation gap and pushed forward this era.

In the summer of 2010, Ali engineers opened the first project in Hangzhou. Ten years later, the number of Ali open source projects has exceeded 1,000, covering big data, cloud native, AI, database, middleware, hardware and other fields. More than 700,000 friends around the world lit up GitHub Star for us, and thousands of people participated in the project contribution. This small achievement of Ali Open Source comes from the contribution and trust of global developers: As early as 2017, OpenMessaging became the first international standard in the field of distributed computing initiated by China, which is our common achievement.

In the past 10 years, Ali has also been one of the Chinese companies working closely with the community. It has been invited to become a member of more than 10 open source foundations at home and abroad, and has actively contributed to open source: He is not only the only Chinese representative on the Supreme Executive Committee of JCP, the Java global governance organization, but also an important member of Linux, RISC-V, Hyperledger, MariaDB, OCI and other foundations. So far, four top projects have been donated to Apache, and more than 10 projects have entered CNCF Landscape.

We believe that communities are the cradle of open source collaboration and innovation. We are committed to building open source with the community. In 2019, the core system of Double 11 went 100% cloud, and Apache Flink broke the record of 2.5 billion messages per second peak in real-time computing, and the technical architecture became more mature. Our big data engineers have established a close relationship with friends in the industry and become good friends in work and life. Through close cooperation, more and more enterprises use ApacheFlink to build a new generation of big data flow processing platform.

According to GitHub’s 2019 annual report, China has become the second largest contributor among its 40 million users worldwide. Open source has become a bright international name card of Chinese technology. Kuba, a law graduate student at the University of Heidelberg, developed a slick legal document management system with Ant Design that has become a right-hand man for many local lawyers.

Behind all kinds of achievements, cannot leave each developer’s cultivation and creation. We often find that when all the hustle and bustle is calm, when attributed to plain, our engineers are still the same mind, in the pursuit of his dream: through code that one of the most direct language, in open source this one of the most simple way, looking for the next breakthrough technology, searching technology for society to create more value. Open source is the biggest concentric circle for developers. In the future, we hope to work with more open source people to benefit the world with technology.

Ten years of grazing code, the original heart has not changed. Thanks to all of you on open Source Road.
