Yes, this is expected. We disable that function in order for our Macros to run correctly.
There is no workaround other than to disable MathType from the Tools > Templates and Addins..
To enable mathType macros to work properly, disable the paste option in Word: “Tools” — “templates and add-ons” — “mathType Commands 6 for word.dot”
Note:
This method is to remove the Math type directly, so that math type is not embedded in Word
