Download and install VirtualBox

  1. Download VirtualBox website, www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downlo. , the following graphic demo version: VirtualBox 6.0.14
  2. Download and install VirtualBox
  3. Start the VirtualBox program

Install Ubuntu

Creating a VM

  1. Run the VirtulBox program and click the “New” button to create a New VIRTUAL machine.

  2. Enter the VM name (optional), for example, Ubuntu-2019-12-31. Select Linux as the operating system and Ubuntu as the version. Click “Next”.

  3. Set the vm memory and click Next.

  4. Create a virtual disk for the VM. Select Create a Virtual Hard Disk Now and click Create.

  5. Select a virtual disk file type. Select the default VirtualBox Disk Image (VDI) and click Next.

  6. Select Dynamically Allocated and click Next.

  7. Select a location for saving the disk and click Create.

  8. The VM is created. That is to say, Ubuntu hardware resources are ready, the following installation Ubuntu system software.

  9. Try refreshing the Mac address (leave this untouched after installing the system software).

Install the Ubuntu software

  1. Website to download the desktop version, www.ubuntu.com.cn/desktop, the current demo version: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

  2. Start The CREATED VM

  3. The following dialog box is displayed, and select the boot disk. Click the small icon of the folder on the right.

  4. Select the virtual DVD-ROM file ubuntu-18.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso and click Start.

  5. On the installation screen, select Install Ubuntu and English(US).

  1. Select “Continue”.

  2. Select Erase disk and install Ununtu and click Install Now

  3. In the displayed warning dialog box, click Continue.

  4. Time zone during installation: Enter Malaysia, select Malaysia Time, and click Continue.

  5. Enter personal information: user name, password, etc. Click Continue. The installation process may take 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or an hour. Please be patient.

  1. When the installation is complete, restart Ubuntu.

Offline installation, test SS

  1. Download ss-qt5-x.x.x-x86_64. AppImage

  2. Copy to the shared folder

  3. To open the vm Ubuntu shared folder, enter the password and copy it to Home.

  4. Open Terminal and run ss-qt5-x.x.x-x86_64. AppImage.

  1. Right click the ADD – > > Manually

  2. Once configured, right-click Connect to see if Latency succeeds.

  3. Set the Network Proxy

  1. Start Firefox and set the language. Select English and restart the browser.

  2. Set the Firefox Web proxy. Swipe to Network Setting, click Setting, and restart the browser.

  3. Check the IP

  4. To shutdown the vm, select Send the shutdown signal.
