Length of reading: 4 minutes

For this interview, we have invited Liu Zhimei, the lecturer of LiveVideoStackCon 2020 Beijing station and technical director of Moxiang Technology, to do the interview. As an Internet practitioner, especially an expert in the field of service content production, I would like to draw attention from a recent event.

September 29. At 23:59 p.m. yesterday,

Tencent weibo has officially ceased operations.

Users are no longer able to log in to Tencent weibo, but data can still be backed up.

**LiveVideoStack: ** Some time ago, Tencent Micro blog team announced that Tencent micro blog will stop operation, once upon a time, the most popular product in the Internet field is mainly blog, because the setting is too free, but is replaced by simple brainless micro blog and social network. Have you ever used a blog to document your life before? Micro-blog can replace blog and short video is favored by more and more users in the past two years. Do you think there is anything in common between the two?

Liu Zhimei: ** I rarely use micro-blog. I do write some blog posts, but mainly about technology. Micro-blog and blog, like poetry and prose, are just two different forms of content carrier and should not be replaced, but micro-blog does win out in popularity 🙂

The reason why microblog is popular is the serious fragmentation of time. Creators do not have a continuous period of time to do in-depth creation, must use the least words, pictures to convey their own mood, ideas or other; Similarly, consumers don’t have a lot of continuous time to do deep reading (of course, many people don’t have the need for deep reading either).

The popularity of short videos is based on the same logic.

**LiveVideoStack: ** Short video is in line with the current fragmented content consumption habits, if only shooting more than ten seconds of content or even using mobile phones can be achieved, but if it is on the basis of multiple video materials for editing and splicing, such production threshold is not high, but also enough to reject many enthusiastic users. From the perspective of intelligent hardware manufacturers, what are the characteristics of intelligent hardware that can maximize the liberation of creators’ production costs?

** Liu Zhimei: ** Video creation faces two major difficulties: material and editing.

As a 2C intelligent hardware manufacturer, the most direct approach is to start from the material, make professional photography equipment into consumer level, so that ordinary users can shoot professional material quality.

Hardcore aspects to be hard enough: imaging speed, color, resolution and so on to professional level, natural anti-shake, built-in large wide Angle and so on, but also professional level.

However, the appearance should be portable and compact, fashionable, simple to use, easy to operate, do not let the user brain.

* * LiveVideoStack: * * on the market at present actually has a lot of filming a short video intelligent hardware devices, and even some cameras also launch convenient Vlog shooting model, but according to different usage scenarios, especially skiing, biking, downhill, such as high speed movement scene, image stabilization and fixed focus to affect the quality of the final piece is very large, which is what the technical implementation of the collection?

** Liu Zhimei: ** Many motion cameras on the market mainly use optical or electronic anti-shake, the purpose is to avoid imaging blur, but the picture will shake:)

Regardless of optical or electronic anti-shake, the basic requirement is fast imaging, including the processing speed of lens set, sensor and MCU.

Anti – shake is essentially sacrificing speed for quality, but if your baseline speed is high enough, the user will be insensitive.

**LiveVideoStack: ** Every technological innovation in the Internet industry is to make richer data and content presented on the Internet in a form that is more accessible to people. The reason why most people choose to shoot short videos directly with mobile phones is largely due to the abundant video editing software available on mobile terminals, which enables shooting, editing and uploading in one step. What user needs should be taken into account in terms of software services if creators are to be maximally liberated?

** Liu Zhimei: ** mentioned two difficulties before, editing is a hard work, the first is to choose a film, from the mass of material to select the segment that meets the requirements, ordinary users do video creation endless hardships.

Then there are the sequences, special effects, transitions, BGM, and subtitles, which are also made up of dark eye circles and hairlines.

Now, the common practice is that professional users do the template and ordinary users do the following, which does reduce the cost of creation, but also introduces another problem.

* * LiveVideoStack: * * to return to the beginning leads to this interview question, weibo to update the replaced in the form of blog, a short video in the Internet world show no two, maybe two years or even more short period of time will be updated form of interaction, short-sighted band goods heat was recently at from the side that the transition of the tuyere, content of the “form” in the future, what are your original ideas, In terms of hardware, have motion cameras and handheld head sets been able to meet user needs for a long time in the future? In terms of software, what other technologies have room for improvement?

** No matter micro-blog, blog, live broadcast or short video, the essence is content creation, the core should still fall on the content itself, good content will have an audience.

From the point of view of product form and application scenario, both motion camera and handheld head can not fully meet the needs of users, so there is still a lot of room for improvement. For example: miniaturization, endurance, high speed imaging and so on.

This is especially true at the software level. Film selection, editing techniques, and even creativity need updated technical support. For example: video retrieval, semantic generation and so on.
