2016 is almost over, and I can still keep this piece of writing. The text is mainly a summary of the individual, the book list is not important, how to choose a book is more important.

Here are some of the books you’ve finished or are currently reading:

1. The Magic Speech by Steve Jobs

This book may be a lot of people have read, Luo Yonghao conference a lot of things are learned from there.

2. CHANGE BY DESIGN: How design thinking transforms organizations and inspire innovation. Tim Brown

The Chinese translation is “IDEO, Design Changes everything”, which I personally feel is a poor translation. This book is very helpful for understanding design with designers, and how teams should work together to solve problems.

3. The World from The Inside out, Daichi Sato & Tanio Kawakami

This book is one of those that can be read on a whim in one sitting. Small and exquisite, almost every photo is professionally shot and processed, pleasing to the eye, with a design case, to illustrate the new generation of Japanese designer Sato Daichi design thinking. Personally, I think the pattern of this book is a little smaller than CHANGE BY DESIGN and more targeted at DESIGN and designers themselves.

4. Positioning. AL Ries & Jack Trout

I think it’s one of the must-read books for marketers, and it’s interesting. I haven’t finished it yet.

5. The Art of Photography by Bruce Barnbaum

This book is completely different from the beginner to master, it can be said that it is not the same height, the author was actually a data analysis of the coder. The cases in the book are mainly landscape themes, which are thick and slightly touching.

By the way, I once again strongly recommend the documentary Planet Earth ii. I’ve taken some pictures myself so far:

6. Grid Systems in Graphic Design, Josef Muller-Brockmann

A very good book, but a bit big and heavy to read the series in one sitting.

7. The Psychology of Design, Donald A. Norman

Donald A. Norman has written A series on design psychology. I’m still reading the first one. It’s A lot of text.

I’ll give you a title for the rest: Design Geometry, Deliberate Practice, Aesthetic Violence that Conquers the World, Takayama Sato: Solving Problems with Design, Talking Like TED, Stories, Slide: Ology: The Art and Science of Creating Great Presentations……

Most of these books are actually beginners, with a design bias. When CHOOSING a book, I tend to look at the following elements:

1. The author

When choosing books, in addition to the “eggs” itself, it is necessary to have some understanding of the “chicken that lays eggs”, such as Satoda, Kenya Hara, Tim Brown and so on.

2. Is there an electronic version online

Generally can find electronic version of the book, especially some of the newer books, electronic version of the general quality is good.

3. Cover layout design

Book as a product, with no heart can be seen at a glance.

4. Referrals

The books recommended by many excellent respondents on Zhihu have certain reference value.

5. Contents section

The logical framework should be rigorous and complete, as can be seen from the catalog.

5. 6. Smart refrigerator

Books under an 8 need to be considered carefully, because that means there is a group of people who are only giving three stars, a passing grade.

Finally, about Zhihu Live:

1. Hosting a Live show that still has five-star reviews (Click the link to go to: Presentation tips), with more than 3,000 participants, the Live event focused on the design and production of presentations and slides from a global perspective and from a higher level.

2. I have just applied for a new Live, which is an advanced stage of slide design and production, centering on the layout design of slides, with immediate operability. As for the slide layout, there are very few answers and articles on Zhihu and wechat. I hope to give more professional, systematic and operational answers to this part through this Live event. (Time: 20pm, February 22nd, 2017, fee: ¥17)
