Android Jetpack

Google has released Android Jetpack to help developers speed up app development.

As the next generation of Android components, Android Jetpack will integrate the benefits of support library backward compatibility and immediate updates into more components, enabling developers to quickly and easily develop high-quality applications with superior performance.

Android Jetpack handles activities like background tasks, UI navigation, and lifecycle management, eliminating boilerplate code and focusing on improving the app experience.

And Android Jetpack is perfectly compatible with Kotlin, using Android KTX to save a lot of code.

The new Android Jetpack component, released today, has four sections: WorkManager, Paging, Navigation, and Slices.

Android Studio 3.2 Canary Edition

This release introduces Android Jetpack support tools, including a visual navigation editor and new code refactoring tools.

This release of Android Studio adds 20 major features, including:

Development part:

Navigation editor, AndroidX refactoring, sample data, Updated Material Design, Android Slices, editing CMakeList, new Lint checks, Intellij platform updates;

Construction section:

Android App Bundle, D8 Desugaring, R8 optimizer;

Test section:

To optimize the part

Performance analyzer, system trace, analyzer session, automatic CPU logging, JNI reference trace;

Android App Bundle

Significantly reduce App size with a new distribution format — Android App Bundle. Developers can now build an App bundle in Android Studio that includes everything they need for an app (for all devices) : all languages, all device screen sizes, and all hardware architectures.

Then, when a user downloads an app, Google Play’s new dynamic delivery transfers only code and resources that are appropriate for the user’s device. Installs that people see on the Play Store are smaller and faster to download, while also saving storage space on the device.

Google Play Console

New features and reports on the Play Console can help you improve your application performance and expand your business. You can also upload, test, and publish apps using our new distribution format, the Android App Bundle.

Google Play Instant

Earlier, Google announced a beta version of Google Play Instant at GDC.

Today, I/O announced instant Apps for all game developers and candy Crush Saga. Google Play Instant is now available on more than a billion devices worldwide, whether through the Play Store, search, or social networks, wherever you can tap a screen.

To simplify the development of real-time apps, this week we will be releasing a plugin service for Unity’s game engine, as well as integration with the beta version of Cocos Creator. More recently, Google began testing Google Play Instant with AdWords, allowing people to Play games directly through ads in all channels covered by Universal App Campaigns.

Android 1.0 Things

Android Things is a Google-owned operating system (OS) that helps developers develop and maintain iot devices at scale. At CES this year, Google announced that Lenovo, Harman, LG, and iHome are already working on Android Things powered products that run on Google Assistant.

The Launch of the Android Things Console takes product development to the next level, allowing developers to regularly access Google’s latest stability fixes and security updates to seamlessly connect from release to management to device updates.
