Honey, this is your 184th day at Ali.

It has been half a year since I joined Ali, which is really fast. Considering my growth during this period of time, I feel a little depressed.

Today, the whole team also made an S1 Review to summarize their own gains and losses. In the summary, my sentence “I feel my skills have deteriorated” caused my colleagues to laugh and my own panic.

Below, sum up my feeling of this half year from several aspects.

An emphasis on business understanding

In our team, most of the discussion is about business, not technology, and so is the surrounding team.

Even so, in half a year, MY understanding of the business was still minimal, showing the complexity of the business.

I worked in the sales and operation line of Ali Cloud intelligent business sector. In the first three months, I worked on some platforms and intelligence-related technology bases. Later, due to business adjustment, I began to work on the system of Ali Cloud delivery domain, and gradually began to contact the actual business.

The system of sales operation line is mainly oriented to toB, and the business process and cycle are very long, and the business form is also very complex, requiring many systems and business entities to support.

As a result, there is a strong emphasis on understanding the business, understanding the whole process, so that the team can better support the business, rather than being self-reliant.

On the other hand, Ali has a very standard and clear assessment system and attaches importance to breakthroughs and innovations in business and technology. If something fails to bring real value to the business and the team, it is just a wonderful process.

S2, I will spend more time to understand the business and contribute to the goal of S2.

Frameworks and Middleware

Ali Cloud’s middleware is too rich, such as inter-system call scheme, monitoring and alarm scheme, sub-database and sub-table scheme, workflow scheme (especially good), flow limiting and demotion scheme, gray publishing scheme, cross-domain call scheme, unified scheduling scheme, distributed message, big data processing, data intelligent platform and so on.

In addition, a set of unified integration framework, so that the integration of the above middleware is particularly convenient, there is a unified project management, change management, release platform, multi-person collaboration, multi-demand development at the same time is very convenient.

As a result, it is faster and more confident to design a technical solution with the support of these underlying components, as well as to implement it.

The fast pace

What I mean by fast is that business changes rapidly. In order to adapt to business changes, staff organization structure changes rapidly. I have been here for half a year, and I have already changed a leader.

The whole department has performance targets, and bosses are constantly playing catch-up.

Business, products and research and development should keep up with this pace, perceive this change, and have a clear and unified goal. Only in this way can we exert efforts in one direction, or we will be left behind.

I have been left far away, from my body sense, feel business and product is not too clear, all need to refueling ah.

The neglect of technical learning

S1 spent a lot of time in understanding business and learning the use of framework and middleware, but he neglected a lot in learning new technology and underlying technology, so he felt that his technology was backward.

S2, will combine with the business, have an in-depth understanding of some technologies, and explore more abundant middleware of Ali, especially those related to data intelligence, to be applied to the project;

Said so much, more or encourage their own good refueling, do not neglect.
