If a Mac OS is installed on a dual OS, for example, Windows and Mac OS, part of the disk will be partitioned into the NTFS format to install The Windows OS. If you want to install only one Mac OS, you may need to erase the NTFS format.

Or some mobile device, which is NTFS itself, but we want to convert it to another format, will also involve erasing NTFS. Using the Tuxera NTFS for Mac read-write tool, these erasing requirements can be easily met.

I. Disk management function

First, open apple’s boot pad (Lauchpad), as shown in Figure 1, and find and double-click Tuxera Disk Manager, which is the Disk management interface for Tuxera NTFS for Mac and the main interface of the software.

Then, as shown in Figure 2, we can browse the disk information for the current device installation in the disk Management interface.

In this example, the Apple device includes both NTFS and Mac OS formats.

Erase the NTFS disk

Next, we erase the NTFS disk.

First, as shown in Figure 3, the NTFS format disk icon is marked with a red “T” pattern. Meanwhile, in the information window on the right, we can also obtain the NTFS format information of the disk from its file system information.

After confirming that the selected disk is the NTFS disk to be formatted (to be erased), as shown in Figure 4, click the format button at the top and select the file system to be converted to begin formatting.

Tuxera NTFS for Mac provides NTFS, exFAT, Mac OS, FAT32 and other file systems to choose from. You can select suitable formats for data storage and software installation.

After selecting a file system, click Format. In the Confirm Formatting dialog box that is displayed, click Continue to format the disk. This operation erases all stored data. Therefore, you are advised to perform this operation again and again.

Third, summary

In summary, using the formatting feature in Tuxera NTFS for Mac Disk Management, you can erase NTFS disks and convert them to other specified formats.

Note that erasing the NTFS format means deleting all data on the disk. You are advised to back up data and confirm the risk of deleting data before performing this operation, because the formatting operation is irreversible.
