Speaking of which, the note-taking system has been updated many times, and the mainstream software in the market has been used. Here is my own experience.

Why do you need a note-taking system

Life is now digital, and our brains are flooded with information. We see too much, we get too little, and many of us get anxious.

See if you have:

  • See hundreds of gigabytes of data want to download, the last hard drive full, head is empty.
  • Collect all good articles, but don’t read them at all.
  • I have an image in my mind, like I’ve seen it somewhere, but it takes a long time to find it, or not at all.

It’s all a mess of managing the flow of information. Fragmentation makes us anxious and feel like our heads are full of stuff, but we can’t get to the point, or even spend a lot of time processing the fragmented information.

So we need a way to manage them.

Before we get started

Before we start, we need to be clear about our purpose, never go astray.

  1. The purpose of taking notes is to better study and review. Instead of having them neatly laid out. So it’s important to get it out and review it as clearly as possible.
  2. Take notes not to remember, but to forget. To clear your mind so you can think, be more focused and creative.
  3. Everything that is not in the notebook is knowledge. Information that influences your actions is knowledge, also known as “internalization” or absorption.

Taking notes can be divided into three processes:

Collect — arrange — duplicate

collect

I believe we have used youdao, impression, for knowledge and other electronic notes.

The following elements can be mainly met:

  • Easy to collect, including clips of web pages, wechat articles, temporary thoughts, important recordings, etc.
  • Multi-terminal synchronization for easy coordination.
  • Safe and reliable, don’t lose it.
  • Easy to type (don’t spend too much time collecting)

Advice:

  • Don’t switch back and forth. They’re all the same.
  • Think good pay, not by the year, first use a month to try, three months still feel good by the year.

finishing

I finally used Evernote, which added a lot of tags and made it easy to search, but there was always a feeling that it was not easy enough and the things in it were still too complicated.

And one more thing, notes are fragmented, not systematic.

If we do not tidy up, it will become our favorites, and the end is the same as not collecting. But one mistake many people make is to overorganize.

Such as:

  • Sorting label
  • Agonizing over which folder to put
  • Dare not discard.
  • Now that you add a new tag, you want to add the old one.

This is the equilibrium. The process of organizing is basically labeling and then changing the title so you can find it later. It is worth noting:

  • The title and tag have their own logic, don’t be ambiguous, make sure the tag and search for the same word.
  • Put a special label on something you want to peruse, and take the notes out when you have time. (Make full use of fragmentation time)

analyse

This step is learning and absorbing. This is where you should spend 80% of your time.

There should be a project or goal for each period. For example, if you are learning mysql recently, you should take out all the mysql related things in your notes. Some of them may be duplicated, and some of them may have been completely mastered.

This is the time for output and practice. Internalize this knowledge by writing output, coding, or blogging based on your goals.

Speak out to really understand.

Use output to force input.

The output is finished, the rest should be more valuable notes. Label them and throw them in the file.

For example, you see this article right now, which is my output, with dozens of notes thrown into the archive.

Common mistakes

I watched a lot of tutorials and went through a lot of holes in the process, including these:

  • Like to try new tools, change, and eventually not only tired, but also easy to lose things. It is recommended to leave it where it is and then use it or migrate it when needed, not migrate it all at once.
  • Not willing to delete, think that may be used in the future, such as the previous MFC information, but now, I can not write the basic life, either delete, or put on the Internet, do not stay in the “common area”.
  • Do not look, do not arrange, do not copy. I feel that every article is written well and put into my own notes system, but I still rely on Baidu to find a problem. Some even put it in and never looked at it again.

conclusion

  • Notes are for review, not just for beauty, learning is true.
  • Write down your own understanding, do not blindly paste and copy other people’s things, some even copy books.
  • Regular output, the output notes do not need to delete, but when the output will have a new perception, but also constantly improve their knowledge system.
  • Persistence, learning is the most important, do not tangle too much how to note down, choose a suitable method for their own stick to it.
  • If there has been a system of articles or tutorials, do not save a set of their own, Baidu is not fragrant yao.

The last

Of course, this is just the general process of taking notes, if you want more details, please feel free to leave your confusion and comments in the comments section.
