VMware server can create, edit, and run virtual machines. In addition to running Virtual machines created by other VMware products, it can also run Virtual machines created by Microsoft Virtual PC products.
Recently, the R&D team of TSINGSEE Video has been testing the VMware server. After the test is completed, it will be used in the cloud side architecture of TSINGSEE Video with a new look. After installing Ubuntu on VMware, we could not install vmware-Tools to make Ubuntu share Windows folder.
If the VMware Tools color is gray and cannot be selected, the VMware Tools cannot be installed and Windows file sharing cannot be performed.
Here we share the solution. If you encounter the same problem, you can set up or troubleshoot according to the following steps.
1. In the closed state of the VIRTUAL machine, click VM Settings -> Hardware ->CD/DVD connection -> Use physical drive automatic detection;
2. Click OK and start the VM. The following information is displayed.

3. Note that all you have to do is press Enter. After the installation is complete, restart
After reboot, set the shared directory on the VM configuration as follows:
4. After the Settings are complete, start the VM and go to/MNT/HGFS to view the Windows shared directory.
If the installation fails, uninstall and reinstall the purge command apt-get autoremove open-vm-tools –purge and repeat the preceding steps.
