Zhang Xiaojian’s first project at Huawei is Huawei Cloud IoT Network Digital Service. Through the Internet of Things technology, a holographic digital road network can be created to realize all-weather, all-scene and all-domain real-time road perception, improve driving safety and road traffic efficiency, and facilitate the large-scale commercial use of autonomous driving.

In the development of this service, Zhang Xiaojian is responsible for the design of the short message sending module of the platform. When a vehicle collides, the platform senses the traffic event in real time, responds within the ultra-low time delay of 100 milliseconds, and pushes an early warning to surrounding vehicles and sends rescue information at the same time.

“Every product test was very stressful, very stressful, because a little bit of error could mean a lot of lives.” But soon Zhang got used to the pressure. “The more challenging a job is, the more sense of accomplishment you feel when you finish it,” Zhang said.

Within one year, Network Digital Services successfully completed the project delivery and went through iterations of several versions. At present, it has covered 310+ general traffic events, realized the safety early warning of multiple vehicle and road collaborative scenes, and has been successfully applied in many projects. For example, it cooperated with Sichuan Jiaotong to build the first Intelligent Network Collaborative Vehicle and Road Test Field in Southwest China. Cooperated with Shou Group and other enterprises and institutions, completed the pilot of collaborative automatic driving for the first time on Yantai Express; Assist Wuxi to build the first city-level vehicle-to-road collaborative demonstration area in China.

Lower the threshold of connectivity, and development makes everything possible

The advent of the digital economy has created the demand for tens of billions of devices to connect to the cloud, but also brought many challenges to the Internet of Things technology, such as large time delay, multiple scenarios, high concurrency, complex application adaptation, and so on.
