When we work on interaction design, we always have questions like: Where do we start? What problems should be paid attention to in the process; How to solve the problems in the process; The final interaction design results should be presented in what form.

The process of interaction design is a product from abstract to concrete process. Interaction designers need to refine the invisible product impression in the mind of each team member, especially product manager and project manager, to form a concrete and visible product. Therefore, the process of completing the interactive draft is to map everyone’s impressions into the interactive draft to meet the expectations of team members (mainly product managers) for the product.

Therefore, in the process of requirement discussion and interaction draft review and modification, it is important for interaction designers to communicate with team members, clarify product characteristics, and gradually modify the previous design until the final completion of the interaction draft.

In the process of communicating requirements and completing the interactive draft, the following issues should be confirmed and paid continuous attention to:

First, identify the target audience

When it comes to target users, many people just stay in the “kind of people” above, and do not distinguish the “kind of people” analysis, “kind of people” also have primary and secondary needs, needs also have core needs and marginal needs. If users are not treated differently and the marginal needs of secondary target users are mistakenly taken as the design focus, the design of the whole product will have serious deviation, which is certainly inconsistent with the expectations of the product manager.

Target user is a general term for all users, which can be subdivided into different roles. Different roles have different permissions and focus on key elements of the page. For example, for the display of operation data of a mobile APP, there will be different role target users, which can be subdivided into operation personnel, developers, management and so on. Different roles also have different concerns. Operators are concerned about daily data and the impact of activities on APP user growth and activity, etc. Developers are more concerned with product performance, user experience and so on; The management will pay more attention to the total number of users, benefits and so on. Therefore, in the design of product pages, to take into account all users, to meet the needs of different roles, but to the main users. In the event of serious conflict, the design should be biased towards the primary user of the product.

The purpose of identifying target users is to determine the different roles of target users, as well as the information focus they pay attention to, and further identify the main target users and secondary users. Only by truly stripping out the core needs of the main users, focusing on the pain points of the needs of the main users and carrying out design can the product design truly meet the needs of the users be completed.

In addition, identify the target audience, but also can obtain other aspects of auxiliary information. For example, the target user’s physical characteristics, psychological expectations, device parameters, etc., can also complete interaction design with highlights by using these information well.

Two, use scenarios

Product usage scenarios have a big impact on how products interact. Refining the usage scenarios of the product can give users the ultimate user experience under special circumstances. Business logic

In an age where everyone is a product manager, interaction design is something many people can do. But being able to do something doesn’t mean being able to do it well. The best solution to the requirements put forward by the product manager is presented in the operation process of the product, that is, the business logic of the product.

Business logic is simply how to do. For example, if you want to buy a piece of clothing, from search, to confirm payment, and then to after-sales service, the whole movement process under the whole target activity can be said to be business logic.

Clear business logic helps to sort out the functional process of the product realistically and avoid falling into preconceived and self-conscious mistakes. As the saying goes, separated rows are separated mountains. For different industries, the industry rules, terminology, hardware equipment information, technical implementation logic and so on are different. By fully understanding the business logic of the product, we can not only better understand the requirements behind the product, but also better communicate with team members and even Party A and complete the interaction design.

4. Key elements of the page

A page often has thousands of users, so there are many page elements and feature entry points. However, when a user opens a page, they tend to focus only on one feature, or a small area of the page, the key element (key feature). In most cases, users enter a page with a goal in mind. Therefore, the key elements (key functions) of the page should be clearly defined as the key expression of the page interaction design. The key elements should be highlighted while the secondary elements should be weakened to make the page element layout detailed and slightly appropriate, which can better meet the needs of users and improve the user experience of the product.

The focus elements of the page are determined after a consultation with the product manager and a detailed understanding of the business requirements. Before making the interactive draft, it is necessary to complete the information architecture and functional process, and the functions involved in the functional process are the key elements of the page. Or, ask the product manager what the page is for. Typically, the product manager will name only one feature, the key element.

The figure, personal information, bill preview and security information are the key elements of the page, so the page layout has been specially processed to visually contrast the key and secondary elements with the following list of opened services, including enlarging the element area, graphical processing, color specific processing, etc.

V. Data volume

The volume of data is the most variable element on the page. Different amounts of data have a great impact on the display, function, and layout of a page. When the data is empty, the page is a special page, need to consider whether the page error, or data is zero, and appropriate prompt for different situations; When the amount of page data is too small, the visual impact of page space should be considered. When there is too much data on a page, it is necessary to consider adding functions such as paging, filtering and searching to meet the needs of users to view data.

Interaction design is to build a harmonious, efficient and unified product system. All thinking and design should be based on the premise of improving the user experience of the whole product system.
