  • The Cloud Virtualization Kernel (CVK) virtualizes software management of hardware resources such as computing, network, and storage resources in data centers and provides automatic services for upper-layer applications. Its service scope includes virtual computing, virtual network, virtual storage, high availability (HA), dynamic resource scheduling (DRS), VM DISASTER recovery and backup, VM template management, clustered file system, and virtual switch policy.

  • Cloud Virtualization Manager (CVM)

    It virtualizes software management of hardware resources such as computing, network, and storage resources in data centers and provides automatic services for upper-layer applications. Its service scope includes virtual computing, virtual network, virtual storage, high availability (HA), dynamic resource scheduling (DRS), VM DISASTER recovery and backup, VM template management, clustered file system, and virtual switch policy.

  • CIC (Cloud Intelligence Center)

    It consists of a series of cloud infrastructure service modules. It integrates infrastructure resources (including computing, storage, and network) and related policies into a VIRTUAL data center (VDC) resource pool and allows users to consume these resources on demand to build a secure multi-tenant hybrid cloud. Its service scope includes organization (VIRTUAL data center), multi-tenant data and service security, cloud service workflow, self-service portal, and REST API compatible with OpenStack.

  • Scene description

    An enterprise implements virtualization construction in its internal private data center and uses server virtualization technology to integrate internal server resources. IT hopes that the server virtualization technology can improve the utilization rate of existing server hardware resources in the data center, effectively suppress the problem of continuous expansion of IT resources, and reduce hardware costs.

  • Scenario analysis

    The servers deployed in data centers must be managed in a centralized manner, and all application systems must be deployed in virtualization environments so that multiple branches, offices, and partners can easily access these application systems. To achieve this goal, the server management and virtualization capabilities of the virtualization management platform are used to centrally manage all server hardware resources through the management interface and deploy the company’s service systems one by one in the virtualization environment.

1. Plan the network

In the system, servers plan the management network, service network, storage network, backup network, and migration network, and these networks must be independent of each other. The management network, service network, and storage network must be planned.

2. Storage planning

  • Local Disk Planning

If only two local disks are used, you are advised to create RAID 1 for the two local disks. If the server uses more than two local disks, RAID 5 is recommended for the local disks.

  • Planning external storage

The system supports IP SAN and FC SAN storage devices. RAID 5 or RAID 6 is recommended.

The system supports a maximum of 64TB shared file systems. Therefore, you can plan a maximum of 64TB storage volumes when planning storage devices. You are advised to allocate 10 to 64TB storage volumes.

3. Plan host pools, clusters, hosts, and shared file systems

  • A host pool cannot contain more than four HA clusters.

  • Each HA cluster contains a maximum of 32 hosts.

  • You are advised not to have more than 10 shared file systems in each cluster.

  • You are advised not to share a file system volume larger than 64TB.

  • A shared file system can be used in only one cluster.
