H.266/VVC will be finalized in July 2020. The same image quality will save nearly 50% more transmission traffic than H.265/HEVC, the higher the resolution, the more bit rate savings. H.266 was jointly developed by MPEG and ITU, with the participation of qualcomm, HHI, Samsung, SONY, Intel, Nokia, Ericsson, Huawei, Tencent, Alibaba, Bytedance, Kuaishou and other companies worldwide. The codec software of H.266/VVC comes out one after another, and the hardware chip is also being designed and will be available soon.
