I am mingxin, the author of open source software called GOSP (similar to Qt). Today I received the GVP Trophy from Gitee. It is a square clear crystal glass with the certificate of honor sealed inside. It is very delicate.

On the occasion of GOSP becoming a code cloud GVP project, I would like to combine the different development status of GOSP project on Github and Gitee, and share some insights from my heart, hoping to help open source software authors (or colleagues who want to be open source software authors, future open source stars).

I published the open source software project “Like Qt/GOSP” on June 3, 2019. This project was published on Github and Gitee platforms at the same time. In the past, the development status of GOSP project on Github and Gitee has formed a sharp contrast: Making the GOSP project did not get much above peer attention, while Gitee GOSP above project received much attention and recognition, all star/fork/watch/followers data in tooling, be clear at a glance, You can check it by yourself (the relative URL path of the project is: Giveda /GOSP).

I think what fits me is best, and only the feet (software writers) know which shoes (code hosting platforms) are more comfortable. Maybe Github is better known (and beautiful on the outside); However, as a little-known and newly launched open source software project, it will drown in the ocean of Github instantly, without even a ripple or spray. From the results of GOSP’s development on both platforms, it’s clear that Gitee is a better fit for budding open-source authors. I think Github is better suited for big projects like Linux (and for companies that can afford to do their own online and offline promotion). If you are a budding open source software star, I recommend that you use Gitee. By contrast, Gitee’s products are more human.

Finally, a brief introduction to GOSP (similar to Qt) :

Qt is an excellent C++ development framework made by the europeans. The API is easy to use, the community is huge, and the resources are rich. I’m a big fan of Qt, but I think it’s too big and too heavy (Qt requires a lot of RAM and ROM). I developed the GOSP framework, GOSP does not rely on Qt under the premise of providing a Qt-like API interface, only requires several hundred KB of hardware resources (much smaller than Qt), can run in Qt does not support low performance areas (to complement Qt), suitable for embedded development.
