Yesterday, CNBC, one of the world’s most influential financial media outlets, announced its annual Disruptor 50 List (Disruptor 50). The list aims to identify the 50 most disruptive, impactful, and impactful startups in the world today.


Now in its sixth year, the Disruptor 50 List features hundreds of startups each year, up from over 800 last year. This year’s trend was “Innovation changes the world,” and covered companies in fields ranging from biotechnology, machine learning, transportation and retail, driverless cars, mobility services, accommodation, cryptocurrencies and even outer space exploration. Ultimately, only 50 companies have been certified as Disruptor.


As CNBC explains on its website, all participating companies are required to submit detailed operational data for the past year, including core data and qualitative and quantitative data. A panel of 39 academics and experts will judge the nominees, scoring them based on whether they “create new markets and ecosystems”, “grow” and “innovate”.
