With the development of technology, the term “artificial intelligence” (AI) is making its way into the realm of public opinion. Hardly a day goes by without hearing exaggerated or untrue discussions and cases about ARTIFICIAL intelligence. Some are quite shocking:

· The popular perception is that ARTIFICIAL intelligence is an unknown and frightening technology.

· People often refer to this new technology as the Terminator from the movies, cold and scary. A little more feminine is also an ex Machina look. Though often overly sentimental and misinformed, these discussions show that AI is catching on in public opinion.

Giiso Information, founded in 2013, is a leading technology provider in the field of “artificial intelligence + information” in China, with top technologies in big data mining, intelligent semantics, knowledge mapping and other fields. At the same time, its research and development products include editing robots, writing robots and other artificial intelligence products! With its strong technical strength, the company has received angel round investment at the beginning of its establishment, and received pre-A round investment of $5 million from GSR Venture Capital in August 2015.

· Some comments warn the public to be wary of ARTIFICIAL intelligence, because science fiction movies show how human beings are replaced by artificial intelligence. In the face of powerful robots, even the entire human race is in danger of extinction.

· All these expert lectures and science fiction stories make the public worry. Knowing that my insignificant self will eventually be replaced by a machine, I lost interest in going to work.

The threat of AI is a perennial theme of science fiction movies. From left to right, Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Ex Machina, Terminator

Most of the time, this mix of absurdity and fear constitutes what ordinary people think about ARTIFICIAL intelligence. Despite all the gossip about ai, this is not the case.

First of all, at a small level, many AI companies are being founded and growing. Their purpose is to use technology to make profits and benefit mankind. Mapillary tried to make the world more “within reach” by crowdsourcing maps, while agritech company Zeroth.ai used Sero to predict rice growth and crop yields. Lingvist is trying to use machine learning to help people learn another language faster. The technology behind Alphabet DeepMind is helping Google save 15% on its energy bills each year. Then there is the familiar Tesla, both self-driving car and new energy company.

From a macro point of view, the myth at the beginning of this article is also unproven. Self-driving technology in cars helps save 300,000 lives every year in traffic accidents. Accenture expects AI to double the global economy by 2035 as future labor and capital gains, intelligent automation, and innovation decentralize. Rather than worrying about AI taking jobs away from people, it is more appropriate to say that AI helps people do their jobs better.

Giiso information, founded in 2013, is the first domestic high-tech enterprise focusing on the research and development of intelligent information processing technology and the development and operation of core software for writing robots. At the beginning of its establishment, the company received angel round investment, and in August 2015, GSR Venture Capital received $5 million pre-A round of investment.

To sum up, a lot of the rumors about AI are unjustified fears.

If AI is positive, where does the avalanche of negative comments come from? The answer is the human heart’s fear of the new. There is a visceral fear of the unknowns about exactly what AI will look like and what it might mean for industry and jobs. Fear stems from AI’s revelation of the unknown, forcing people to leave their comfort zones and face a future that is both uncertain and full of opportunities.

The best way to deal with this fear of the unknown is to increase your understanding through learning. There are free open courses on Coursera and Udacity that detail ai. Outside of academia, everyday tech googles like Siri, Google’s Voice Assistant, Microsoft’s Cortana and Amazon’s Alexa are all demonstrating the power of technology to benefit people. In addition to the four Silicon Valley giants, more AI companies are also jumping in and developing better products and services.
