Do you really know how to search? You’re wasting your Life (part 2)

Reverse image search

Usually we want to search pictures, mostly in the search home page to switch to the picture Tab, and then enter the picture of the key words, such as “beauty”, “bird”. What is reverse search? We have an image (either local or a known link on the Internet) and want to know something about it. It’s called “image reverse search” because it’s the opposite of how we normally search for images. After going to the cinema, when I was going down the stairs in the elevator, an aunt took out her mobile phone and asked me if THERE was any way to find the high-definition picture of the picture on her screensaver, because it was not clear because she had saved it on her phone before. I told her to go back and try searching “Baidu Image Recognition” on Baidu or “Image search” on Google. Another time, a friend sent me a video of a color-changing bird and asked me what it was. I really couldn’t do anything in front of him.

So I took a screenshot of the video, put it into Google and got the following answer:

You can see that the item in the GIF that I clicked on, that’s the name of the bird, “Anna,” and if you scroll through a few more, you can see that it’s a hummingbird, and it’s called “Anna Hummingbird,” and it’s called “flying gem.”

Advanced search

If you find the previous articles useful, but you don’t want to overload your memory, are there other ways to do it? Of course, you can use Google’s advanced search function, which is divided into two categories: Advanced Search for websites and advanced search for images.

Advanced search for web sites

We can go directly to the website www.google.com/advanced_se… Enter the advanced search page, or click “Settings -> Advanced Search” on any search results page.

Here we can see that there are various options to fill in, click on the bottom right corner of the “Advanced search” button. A lot of this is the same syntax we’ve been talking about before, but it’s presented in a friendlier way. You will notice that there is a column with “position of words”. We can specify the position of words, such as title, text or url, etc. The corresponding syntax is “intitle:”, “intext:”, “inURL:” and so on. If you want to search for results with zhang SAN in the title, you can simply search “intitle: Zhang SAN”, and so on.

Image search for images

Go directly to www.google.com/advanced_im… Go to the advanced image search main page

Here we can search by image size, aspect ratio, and file format. One of the most important things I think is the condition of “access”. Sometimes we need to use pictures online, or use personal websites, or use wechat official accounts, but many pictures are copyrighted, and if we use them without screening, we may get into trouble. This is after we can search copyrighted images for free use.

Well, this is the end of this Google search series of articles, I hope to help you, so that you can more smoothly arrive at the destination.
