1. Data preparation

Enter the data set and create AD hoc analysis through new data set or directly from the AD hoc analysis module with one click.

2. Data selection

To the left of the AD hoc analysis page is the data panel.

Select “Show dimension name only” in the data panel to switch from the default dimension value mode to the dimension mode. In this case, it is the same as in the data panel of modules such as dashboard and spreadsheet. If you select a dimension, all dimension values under the current dimension are selected.

You can create tables by double-clicking or dragging dimensions. For example, the field of mode of transport is selected, which directly selects the values of the three dimensions under the mode of transport.

3. Data screening

After forming a table, if you want to further narrow the scope of data query, you can also directly generate query controls by dragging and dropping.

AD hoc query controls do not require complex conditional configuration.

For example, if you want to select “medium box” and “large box” on the basis of the existing table, you just need to directly select the two dimensional values of “medium box” and “large box” in the data panel and drag them to the control area.

To view the filtering data corresponding to the measure, drag the measure directly to the control area, and then set the specific value.

For example, if you want to view the order quantity >1000, drag “Order Quantity” to the control area and enter the corresponding value.

4. Data calculation

In AD hoc analysis, you can right-click on an existing table to perform functional operations. The operations that can be performed vary according to the selected content.

For example, right-click two measures, you can carry out percentage, percentage difference and four operations, calculation formula in accordance with the selected order to display.

In addition to the several quick computations provided by default, you can also write expressions by custom computations.

5. Cross drilling

Drill down & roll up

All dimension fields configured with a hierarchy in the data set, as long as they are not the last layer in the hierarchy, can be drill-down in the table in AD hoc analysis. Drill down for finer-grained data queries.

For example, in the geographic hierarchy shown below, you can drill down from “region” to “province” and from “province” to “city”;
